Strategic Air Command (film)

Thanks for pointing that Jimmy Stewart flew B-24's, but he ALSO flew B-17's --Woolhiser 16:15, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

I had to make a change to Buckboard's edits, and there's more detail on the Talk page. I'd appreciate your input there. --Woolhiser 20:51, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
I would have mentioned the B-24 on the first edit, but I was not aware of it. Thanks for bringing it up! --Woolhiser 23:25, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Yours, Mine & Ours

Have you even watched the movie? In the 2005 version it's White, not North. -- Yin 08:18, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

C-130 Hercules

Where does the Falklands/Malvinas War reference should go ? Jor70 18:01, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Stolen C-130

I saw your footnote when U listed the reference page for the stolen C-130. Yup - it wuz for real, and as an Air Force brat who hung around the flightlines at Norton and Eglin Air Force Bases, I was well familiar with this notorious Hercules incident. There is a whole hotbed of chat columns on C-130 - oriented websites about this incident, including speculation that F-100s sent out to search for it may have shot it down, but as that is all speculation, I limited my incident report to the known facts.

I know of a few other notable C-130 hull losses, which I may get 'round to posting at some point.

I take it that you are one of the Big Dogs on the Wiki. I edit certain articles over here, and contribute boat loads of material on the ClemsonWiki project, my alma mater. I wrote the lead chunks for the Operation Credible Sport article, and have contributed to Twelve O' Clock High and Dr. Strangelove, amongst others.

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

Reach out
Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Misplaced Pages to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Misplaced Pages's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
Stress Alerts
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
The last AC meeting (full log)
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

Re:Prasi90

Appears you are correct...good eye my man, and I appreciate it. Looks like it's time to block that IP again...let me look things over and see what I can do. I may have to wait a few hours as I am getting busy. I expected a sock account to pop up.--MONGO 05:30, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Award

A Barnstar! The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
I hearby award Rogerd the Tireless Contributor Barnstar for all his unthanked work he so diligently performs. MONGO 05:06, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Project news
From the Coordinators

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this new format will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new groups and programs within the project that they may wish to participate in.

Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome, and will help us improve the newsletter in the coming months.

Hello Rogerd: Thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which passed with a final tally of 77/3/0. I hope I can perform at the standards expected for administrators. If I make any mistakes, or you need anything, please let me know. Prodego 01:45, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi Rogerd. Just a quick note to thank you for voting on my RfA, which recently passed 62/13/6. I want to let you know that I will do my best to address all concerns that were raised during the RfA. I will also do my very best live up to this new responsibility and to serve the community, but please let me know if I make any mistakes or if you have any feedback at all on my actions. Finally, if there is anything that I can assist you with - please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers TigerShark 04:13, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #2

Barnstar Brigade
The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Misplaced Pages, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Misplaced Pages has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
Stress Alerts
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Information
Welcome to the second issue of the new format Esperanza Newsletter - we hope you still like it! This week, it was delivered diligently by our new dogsbody. MiszaBot (run by Misza13): any execution complaints should go to him. Content comments should be directed at the Esperanza talkpage. Thanks!
The last AC meeting (full log)
  1. The next elections: Approval voting as before and, also as before, an previous leadership member can run. Please submit your name for voting in the relevant section of this page. Voting starts on 2006-04-23 and ends on 2006-04-30. There will be three places up for grabs as KnowledgeOfSelf is leaving Misplaced Pages. Please see the previously linked page for full details.
  2. The Code of Conduct is now ready for extensive discussion! Specific comments should go to the Code of Conduct talk page, discussion of having one at all should be directed to the main Esperanza talk page.
  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.
A plea from the editor...
The propsed programs page is terribly underused! Please leave any comments, good or bad, on the page, to help us determine the membership's thoughts on the ideas there.

Kusma's RfA

Hello, Rogerd! Thank you for your support in my recent successful request for adminship. If you ever have problems that you could use my assistance with or see me doing stupid things with my new buttons, don't hesitate to contact me. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 02:26, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Disamb pages - thanks for the info

Thanks for the info on disambiguation pages. The "only one blue link per entry" is updated (March 24 2006) since I last read the dab MOS; thanks for pointing that out. The piped disamb links were left from the version that I edited - I'll keep an eye out for these in the future. Thanks again for pointing out the update. —ERcheck @ 03:31, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the info on the MOS for disambiguation pages - I hadn't picked that one up yet. --Estarriol 09:28, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you!
Hello Rogerd. Thank you for your support in my RfA! It passed with a final tally of 91/3/5. I am quite humbled and pleased by the community's show of confidence in me. If you need help or just want to talk, let me know. Cheers! -- Fang Aili

Redlink entries on disambig pages get a blue link too

I just made minor fixes a couple of your MOS:DP compliance edits. Recently, the following language got added:

Redlinks should usually not be the only link in a given entry; link also to an existing article, so that a reader (as opposed to a contributing editor) will have somewhere to navigate to for additional information.

Just FYI, since it's new guidance. Thanks! --TreyHarris 05:00, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the update! --rogerd 05:05, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Many thanks for your support on my recent RfA. It was successful. Thanks again, Mark83 10:53, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for supporting me in my RfA. I really didn't think people appreciate my work here that much, but it's nice to see you do: my Request was closed with 66 supports and 4 opposes. I'll do my best not to turn your confidence down. If in any point in the future you get the feeling I'm doing something wrong, do not hesitate to drop me a line. --Dijxtra 11:50, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

A moment ago . . .

. . . I saw that you had voted on the Bush Crimes Commission page, and then your vote disappeared. Did somebody remove your vote? Morton devonshire 02:29, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, apparently User:Xtra did --rogerd 02:34, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

I have no idea how that happened. Xtra 03:21, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

My RFA

Many thanks for your vote on my recent RFA, which passed narrowly. I will try to be worthy of your support. Regards, Kaisershatner 21:09, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Closing AfDs

Please be careful when closing AfDs. You closure of Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Hendrix Nosepipe was incomplete as it failed to provide who deleted the article and why it was deleted. --Hetar 02:11, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I have added text explaining why I speedy deleted it (G1:patent nonsense) --rogerd 02:21, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Old Skool Esperanzial note

Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Why did you add that new warning? My warning occured after the vandalism had stopped anyways. JoshuaZ 04:55, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

You really can't block someone unless they first get something more serious than {{test}} --rogerd 04:59, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I know that. What does that have to do with this? He had stopped vandalzing, been given a warning and then an hour later you added another warning jumping two levels in the test-tree? JoshuaZ 05:03, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Well, if you don't like it, then revert it. --rogerd 05:07, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Proof I'm from Montana

Now many, many years ago, when I was twenty-three, I was married to a widow who was pretty as could be. This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red. My father fell in love with her, and soon they, too, were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life, My daughter was my mother, cause she was my father's wife. To complicate the matter, even though it brought me joy, I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became a brother-in-law to Dad, And so became my uncle, though it made me very sad. For if he was my uncle, then that also made him brother Of the widow's grown-up daughter, who, of course, was my stepmother.

Father's wife then had a son who kept him on the run, And he became my grandchild, for he was my daughter's son. My wife is now my mother's mother, and it makes me blue, Because, although she is my wife, she's my grandmother, too.

Now if my wife is my grandmother, then I'm her grandchild, And everytime I think of it, it nearly drives me wild, For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw As husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa! --MONGO 03:32, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Project news

Some project tips

  • Stick the following template {{Template:TheBeatlesArticle}} on relevant articles. We have 500+ already but may have missed some!
  • Use British/English grammar and spelling per Policy
  • A few moments checking other editors contributions is always appreciated.
  • Don't be shy on using the talk pages. It's where a lot of stuff gets decided.

From the Editors

Welcome to the inaugural issue of The Beatles WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this newsletter will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new things to do within the project that they may wish to participate in.

Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome. We would like to emphasise that this is a collaborative Project and all editors are equal - so next month the newsletter editor might be you!

The Project has got off to a great start but we really need your help to keep it going. Here's a few things you can do:

Complete Todo List:
Open tasks for WikiProject The Beatles.

Edit or discuss these tasks.

As the project is currently just starting, our more experienced editors are working on the project infrastructure, classifying articles, and listing/assessing red links. Your assistance is welcome. If you would prefer to just edit - and why wouldn't you? - we have a choice selection of red links to turn blue and articles to clean! Now let's get busy.

If you complete one of these tasks, please remove it from the list and add your achievement to the project log.

Want to help on next month's newsletter? Don't want to receive these in future? Don't want it subst'd next time? - It's all here

Thank you!

Thank you, dear Rogerd!

Your concern in my absence and your get-well wishes really mean a lot to me. Sometimes, well - life can be tough on us, but as long as good friends like you are there, I'll always have a reason to cheer up. Since you mention it, I swear I'll continue to drop by RfA as I used to... tho I don't think my contribs are so special anyway! ;) Thank you, my dear Roger!!
