File source problem with File:Tom Hanks as he appears in Apollo 13.png

Thank you for uploading File:Tom Hanks as he appears in Apollo 13.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Misplaced Pages. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. GSKtalkevidence 22:28, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Tom Hanks as he appears in Apollo 13.png

A tag has been placed on File:Tom Hanks as he appears in Apollo 13.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Copyright

Accepting that you downloaded the images from the Italian wikipedia, screenshots from films as new as Apollo 13 are not in the public domain and cannot be licenced as such. These are copyright violations both here and on the Italian wikipedia. NtheP (talk) 22:44, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

When making derivative images, you need to list the author of the image as credited in that image. In this case, NASA is the author of the original image. —C.Fred (talk) 02:55, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Apollo 13 splashdown photo

Please make note of the correct way to code a picture inside an article:

] following splashdown]]

The "thumb" argument is necessary; omitting it makes the picture full-size, and messes up the page. There also needs to be a caption. If you wanted to change the photo (in this case I think the color picture is an improvement), you only need to change the filename, but leave the rest.

However, there happens to be two things wrong with your Apollo 13 crew after recovery.png picture:

  • It isn't cropped correctly; it's very small in the upper left hand corner, with white space around it;
  • The PNG format should only be used for drawings, or renderings such as insignia. Photographs, and paintings, should be in JPG format.

Please spend a few minutes reading WP:Image use policy. JustinTime55 (talk) 21:27, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Cosmic waves

The article Cosmic waves has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable… whatever this is. No sources.

While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The same applies to File:Apollo 13 crew after recovery.png and File:Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World with the lapbars.gif. Please include a direct URL in the "Source" parameter whenever you are creating a description page for a file - simple website names (e.g. "allears.net") are not sufficient. Second, are you sure that the latter image is in the public domain? The watermark reads "© Ashley Livingston". When a file is uploaded to Misplaced Pages, the sourcing and licensing information must be accurate. Thanks. SuperMarioMan 21:56, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

I declined the speedy as I (eventually) found the image. Please put the url of the image in the box in future, and for images that are cc-by-sa-3.0, we must use the same license as the remote site. Images that cannot be checked will often get deleted.  Ronhjones  21:51, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
Sadly, the Wikia.com image was found to be a copyright violation as well, all taken from Disney at http://www.certain.com/system/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x224783d6e&varPage=activity  Ronhjones  22:35, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Cosmic waves

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cosmic waves requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted.
