Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

List of Tekken characters (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: One or more IP users (I think it's the same person under a different IP every time) keeps edit warring over adding two update games to the character table at the top of the article which just pointlessly clutters the page. They have been reverted several times already by myself and other users. They have been completely ignoring what we say in our edit summaries. Kokoro20 (talk) 16:57, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Seems like a disruptive IP is targeting it, requesting semi. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 16:55, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    BCS theory (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Also Josephson effect (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Semi-protection: an IP editor from different IPs adds a piece of fringe theory, which has been removed by several good-faith editors. At least one IP received a warning from me. The editor does not communicate other than re-inserting the piece. No other recent IP edits.--Ymblanter (talk) 16:51, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    Bad Girls Club (season 2) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. Junebea1 (talk) 13:44, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Nyttend (talk) 15:58, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    Bad Girls Club (season 1) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. Junebea1 (talk) 13:44, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. I just see one IP causing all of the problems; the solution in that situation is WP:AIV. Nyttend (talk) 15:58, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    Karl Rove (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi for maybe a couple of weeks. Too much BLP-violating material being inserted by IP's and redlinks. ←Baseball Bugs carrots12:43, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:15, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    Talk:Neuro-linguistic programming (edit | article | history | links | watch | logs)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – During a sock puppet case (involving at least two IPs), another new IP added in an apparent attempt to disrupt.. SummerPhD (talk) 04:50, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Extraterrestrial life (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views); Mars Science Laboratory (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and related articles

Temporary semi-protection: Announcement of a major discovery by the Mars Science Laboratory will prompt speculation about whether it has found life on Mars, whether it is living or fossilized, and other such talk that is not conducive to the purpose of this wiki. After the announcement in a few weeks of this discovery (possibly of life) the number of self-proclaimed prophets editing these pages will grow dramatically, reducing the factual accuracy of the articles previously mentioned. DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. — Mr. Stradivarius 11:09, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    Skrewdriver (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: Persistent IP disruptive edits/vandalism that make the article factually inaccurate.Spylab (talk) 22:47, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Declined I wouldn't call those edits vandalism as defined at WP:VANDAL - it looks more like a good-faith attempt to trim down the lead section to me. This really needs to be discussed at the article's talk page before we can consider protection. — Mr. Stradivarius 11:06, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    Charminar (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Hindu Muslim dispute on wiki on the illegal structure built at the base of Char minar . Shabiha 19:54, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. — Mr. Stradivarius 10:55, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    September 2012 cacerolazo in Argentina (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Article in slow Edit war since a week, whose speed is increasing. Participants are discussing on the talk page, and at the same time reverting. So a full protection for 3 or 4 days will give them time to discuss. Both users are autoconfirmed so I request Full protection. Make sure the last edit before fullprotecting it is my edit (I will comment/hide the whole section causing problems, so neither side views is visible while the page is frozen). Neo139 (talk) 15:11, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Also I have to mention the topic is highly controversial and political. There was also full protection for a week on the same article in the Spanish Misplaced Pages.--Neo139 (talk) 15:21, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Fully protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Nyttend (talk) 16:10, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: Extremely high level of IP vandalism, especially in regards to false information on DLC. Likely to be a target for quite a while. 85.210.182.9 (talk) 00:04, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Note: I'm seeing a high level of unsourced edits but not a high level of vandalism, other than some blankings from an IP that could be blocked if they continue. However, I'm not sure what you're referring to with the "false information of DLC" comment. Could you maybe provide a couple of diffs? Thanks — Mr. Stradivarius 14:05, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Declined. IP edits seem mostly constructive. — Mr. Stradivarius 10:10, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
