The 2012 Delhi rape case refers to an incident when a 23-year old student was gang raped by six men in a bus in the capital city of Delhi. The incident sparked widespread protests and dissent across the country. The six men accused were arrested in Delhi and Bihar. It was later announced that the victims condition was deteriorating. She was traveling with a male friend who was attacked and thrown out of the bus. On Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit's suggestion, five fast track courts were approved to try rape cases.
