ANI-notice

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.PaoloNapolitano 12:41, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Stanistani, while I don't think there's cause for admin action yet (and I have said so at AN/I) I don't think your editing style is co-operative and collegial. I'd advise turning it down a notch or in future someone might find something that IS blockable. Kim Dent-Brown 18:25, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
I closed the thread, but I agree with Kim Dent-Brown. Drmies (talk) 18:52, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
I'm speaking my mind politely. That's not against the spirit or letter of any WP regulation. StaniStani  00:46, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Link to AN/I slapfight

Note—PaoloNapolitano turned out to be a troll and a sock and was banned. I really appreciate Kim Dent-Brown and Drmies warning me that although I didn't do anything actionable, I had better make sure to watch my step or someday I would do something actionable and someone would block me. I think I've heard this before. Oh yeah, I remember now... "Dis is a nice place youse got here. I hear youse been talking to da cops. Be a pity if sumfin happened to youse. Keep ya nose clean, hah? *friendly slap on the back*" StaniStani  10:53, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Edit Summary

This edit summary typo gave me a chuckle. =) CycloneGU (talk) 21:12, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

That was no typo. That was a tiny, tiny joke. I'm glad it amused you. StaniStani  06:59, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

you should design a new template

You should design a new "*Yawn* *Stretch*" template that can be put on one's talk page, whenever someone tries to intimidate someone with those silly "Warning! Horrible stuff will happen to you unless you do exactly what I say and let me have my way!" templates.VolunteerMarek 01:14, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Sounds like fun. I should make a userbox too. 'This Editor was napping quietly and was awakened by People Who Think They are Important. *Cracks Knuckles*' StaniStani  05:34, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Tea

Wikipedians also recommend biscuits with tea.

Mistress Selina Kyle has given you a cup of tea. Tea promotes WikiLove and hopefully this has made your day ever so slightly better.

Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a tea, especially if it is someone you have had disagreements with in the past or someone putting up with some stick at this time. Enjoy!

Spread the lovely, warm, refreshing goodness of tea by adding {{subst:wikitea}} to their talk page with a friendly message.

Comment

I saw your new signature on AN and just wanted to remind you of Misplaced Pages:SIG#Length. It's only 231 characters with the addition, but including the date, it would probably push it over 255 and might make it difficult for automated tools to interpret. Maybe create a redirect in your userspace to the longer title name? MBisanz 19:44, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

I'll trim it before I post again. It was fiddly to get the hover text to work. Thanks for the heads-up! StaniStani  11:06, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Now my sig is, including the date, 219 characters. I'll take suggestions on how to get the disclosure in a lot fewer characters.→StaniStani  08:31, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Since the fellow who was whingeing about my COI is otherwise occupied for a while, I'm just going back to my stylish, shorter sig.StaniStani  02:05, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Nothing important

I'm just glad you're here. Some people here are nice. Some people here do things that aren't nice. Some people here pretend to be nice while in fact meaning to be not nice. I'm too scared to post off WP but I read.

Factseducado (talk) 00:29, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

May your day be filled with nice people; but never be afraid to say what's on your mind, wherever you want to say it.→StaniStani  08:27, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm having a pleasant day on the 'pedia. I wish all days were so nice. It's odd because I have nothing novel or invective-like to say but I'm actually afraid of a backlash. I feel like I'm in the books/movies Fahrenheit 451 or 1984. Surreal. It's surreal. Factseducado (talk) 14:01, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Things get overblown here at times. Remember, for all its fame and global reach—it's just another website.→StaniStani  14:37, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, it's remarkable how people can get wrapped around the axle of Misplaced Pages so quickly.StaniStani  04:38, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

My RfA

Thank you for participating in my RfA, I really appreciate it. =) Master&Expert (Talk) 00:55, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

My pleasure. Misplaced Pages needs more admins from the hoi polloi.StaniStani  02:58, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Wikipediocracy question

Hi Stanistani, you're an admin/mod (not sure what they call it there) on Wikipediocracy, right? There's a thread on ANI at the moment (link in case it's archived by the time you see this) about outing-related comments made on Wikipediocracy by someone with a similar name to a Misplaced Pages user. A few people on the thread have speculated that the Wikipedian is being impersonated by someone who is trying to get him in trouble. Do you think that's a possibility? Thanks, Mark Arsten (talk) 16:02, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

I am one of three system administrators/application support people on the site. I read that ridiculous thread, and I want to affirm here that we respect the privacy of our members on Wikipediocracy. We don't shake loose people's IP addresses and play "catch-the-sock." I have an opinion, based on public info, but it's going to stay private. The moderators can't see IP addresses or email addresses. If someone asks me for private information, I will bring their name in front of our trustees with an eye to humiliating them publicly.
Now to the substance of your question. Yes, it could be a joe job. We don't verify 'pseudoidentity.' If it turns out to be a proven joe job, we'll delete that account. I see no urgency to do anything like that, though.
Come over to the site and register, and dive in. You'll find out a lot of things about Misplaced Pages you never imagined.
StaniStani  03:40, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense, I suppose. It looks like there is no consensus here lately to take action here about off-wiki postings (with the apparent exception of ED articles), so it's a bit of a moot point now anyway. Oddly enough, that thread made me think about registering an account there, though it slipped my mind after it was closed down. Mark Arsten (talk) 16:26, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
I locked the topic on Wikipediocracy, and removed the content asking for outing, and everything after it, from sight.StaniStani  08:53, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
Alright, I appreciate you doing that, thanks. Mark Arsten (talk) 14:34, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

controversies at the 2012 Summer Olympics revert

I would like to draw your attention to the following discussions which show that the revert you made was not a revert to a good faith edit. it was revert against consensus during an ongoing discussion and dispute over the wording and inclusion of that section. I would also like for you to read the section let me know if you think it is written in a way which conforms to the accepted standards of Misplaced Pages.

The discussions can be seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. Sport and politics (talk) 15:46, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Read a lot of that. I feel the content should stay, and be worked on. Anyway, don't edit war, don't revert everything you don't like, and please stay off my talk page. Discuss content issues on the article talk page.StaniStani  18:04, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to participate in my RfA. I hope that I will be able to improve based on the feedback I received and become a better editor. AutomaticStrikeout 22:37, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
