Plot introduction

Faith Harrington is a PhD student from the Midwestern United States who survived the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. She flew to Australia to protest Dr. Arreglo's plan to put a building in the rain forrest, which would kill and endanger animals that Faith deeply cares for. However, while in Australia Faith finds herself a part of a bigger plot that she did not want to be a part of. After crashing on the island Faith is stunned to see a bird that was thought to be extinct, and while searching for it in the jungle she finds herself in a situation that she does not think she can handle.

Bad Twin

Bad Twin is a tie-in novel for the television show Lost. The authorship is attributed to the fictional Gary Troup. The real author is unknown. The manuscript of Bad Twin was discovered by the characters of Lost in Season 2 and has been mentioned in two episodes. Bad Twin is part of the Lost Experience, an interactive game with a storyline that relates to the storyline of Lost, but not directly part of it. On 9 May 2006, the fictional corporation The Hanso Foundation ran an advertisement in several major newspapers, including The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Chicago Tribune. The ad repudiates Bad Twin for its "attacks" and "misinformation" about the Hanso Foundation.

Plot introduction

Paul Artisan is a little-known private investigator from New York City. He is approached by Cliff Widmore, an executive at Widmore Construction. Cliff wants Paul to discretely find his twin brother, Zander Widmore, who Cliff believes is in trouble. Paul's investigation takes him to Key West, Cuba, and eventually Australia while he uncovers not only Zander's whereabouts, but also a larger conspiracy within the Widmore family.

References to Lost

While the novel's plot has no direct link to the television show, Bad Twin contains many references. Widmore Construction, which is prominently featured in Bad Twin, has been briefly seen on the Lost island. Both Sun's pregnancy test and Henry Gale's hot air balloon were manufactured by Widmore Labs. A building constructed by Widmore Construction was glimpsed at during a flashback. The Hanso Foundation houses its office space inside of a Widmore building in New York City. Although The Hanso Foundation's purpose is irrelevant to Bad Twin's story, Paul accidentally stumbles upon The Hanso Foundation while in one of Widmore Construction's buildings. Cindy Chandler, who ended up on the Lost island, had a brief conversation with Paul en route to Australia.
