His boxing record is 26-2 (12 KOs). He is the former WBA welterweight champion. On May 13, 2006, he lost the title to Ricky Hatton on a close unanimous decision. Collazo was knocked down in the 1st round. Thereafter, the fight was close, with Hatton having the style and power advantage in the early rounds. Collazo appeared to capture many of the rounds in the 2nd half of the fight. Collazo had Hatton hurt and wobbly in the middle of the final round.
