Welcoming

I welcome a lot of users, usually 50 (a page worth) in about 5 minutes. I use a handy little welcome template that can be found on my user page. I'm glad you've been editing for a while and finally decided to get a user account. Just don't forget to sign your posts to talk pages with ~~~~. You can edit what your signature looks like in your preferences, so you could have it say "Jameson" as you put on my talk page. Happy editing! Jfingers88 21:27, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Newmarket 404 interchanges

Good day.

I see that you consider there are four 404 interchanges in Newmarket. I count only three (including Green Lane, which, though in East Gwillimbury, does "serve" Newmarket): Mulock Drive, Davis Drive, and Green Lane. What is the fourth interchange?

French program at NHS?

What exactly do you mean by that? Every school has one. I have a feeling you mean an extended or immersion programme. Please say which it is. Kelisi 00:56, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Hello. Firstly, I would like to apologize for my rude message to you. It's been a rough couple of days for myself and I have been a little too emotional and quick to anger. It doesn't reflect positively on myself and was unfair to you when you were making perfectly legitimate questions and edits. I apologize for my message to you. It wasn't done in a rational state of mind.

Secondly, it has been announced (I have actually had the priviledge of talking with a teacher at NHS who informed me of the move) that NHS will be the region's main immersion school. All Canadian students are obviously expected to have an education in French (at least up to Grade 9). However, this is what I believe to be the Immersion Program. It will only be for a select few students as the great majority will obviously continue to learn in English, but they are moving it from Aurora High.

Hopefully that helps!

OTCS AfD

I've reverted the removal of the AfD tag on Over the Counter-Strike. It's considered unacceptable to remove the tag while the discussion is still ongoing. I also reverted your deletion of a legitimate vote/comment from the AfD disccussion (if you feel necessary, you can bring up the civility issue with another admin). Thanks. — TKD::Talk 04:04, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Please stop removing comments from Articles for deletion discussions; it is considered vandalism. You may comment on the discussion if you have problems with it, but don't remove material that's already there. — TKD::Talk 01:47, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Well, the correct procedure, I would think, would be to get an admin to look at the insults, not delete them yourself. — TKD::Talk 01:55, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Removing the contributions of others from AfD discussions is highly inappropriate and is liable to get you blocked for vandalism if you continue. I regret that you didn't interpret my remarks in the same playful tone that I intended them, but that by no means gives you the prerogative to remove other people's contributions to a discussion. — Phil Welch (t) (c) 05:41, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Hey guys, let's let a guy who lets his bias get in the way of decisions have an adminship and then he can ban a user who contributes to Misplaced Pages! It is sure to be effective! --Tykell 18:43, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Exactly. The treatment I have received from Phil Welch, an individual who is on an obvious power trip and abusing his administrative resources for personal gain, is nothing short of outlandish and embarassing to Misplaced Pages. I have consistently been a strong contributor to numerous articles and it is somewhat demoralizing to have been blocked from editing a page of which I was one of the primary creators of. This behaviour on Phil Welch's part strikes me as being ridiculously hypocritical.

Meat Puppetry

It is considered highly inappropriate or unacceptable to externally advertise Misplaced Pages articles that are being debated, or where one wishes to stir up debate, in order to attract users with likely known views and bias, in order to strengthen one side of a debate and influence consensus or discussion. It's also inappropriate to invite "all one's friends" to help argue an article. Advertising or soliciting meatpuppet activity is not an acceptable practice on Misplaced Pages.

The arrival of multiple newcomers, with limited Misplaced Pages background and predetermined viewpoints arriving in order to present those viewpoints, rarely helps achieve neutrality and most times actively damages it, no matter what one might think. Misplaced Pages is not a place for mixing fact and opinion, personal advocacy, or argument from emotion. Controversial articles often need more familiarity with policy to be well edited, not less.

If you feel that a debate is ignoring your voice, then the appropriate action is not to solicit others outside Misplaced Pages. Instead, avoid personal attacks, seek comments and involvement from other Wikipedians, or pursue dispute resolution. These are quite well tested processes, and are designed to avoid the problem of exchanging bias in one direction for bias in another.
