Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Indefinite full protection: Persistent vandalism. Liberalufp (talk) 21:47, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

I don't think the article warrants full protection a matter of fact, any protection. Hardly any vandalism edits have occurred and full protection regardless for persistent vandalism on this page would seem a bit over reacting. John F. Lewis (talk) 22:21, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – I don't know why, but as soon as this page comes off semi-protection, up goes the vandalism. It must be one of those irresistible pages. At any rate, it's starting up again. Geoff 18:24, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: There seems to be a high number of critical/vandalism IP edits coming in at the time, and this could probably benefit from semi-protection until the internet heat dies down. Ducknish (talk) 17:56, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

    Superman Returns (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: An IP editor keeps altering the amounts on the article so they contradict the sources. I have explained in edit summaries and on the talk page why he shouldn't do this. I have unsuccessfully tried t reach him on his talk pages but his IP keeps changing. If I can't get him to engage then he must be prevented from editing the page. Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Constant edit warring by IP socks who refuse to use the talk page. Involved, as I already blocked an IP for edit warring, so shouldn't protect myself. filelakeshoe (talk) 16:11, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

    Gaddi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: I collected all the information need to make this page what it looks like today, as initially the page was a stub with very little information. But over and over again the page is modified thereby rendering it useless. I edited the modified page on 3 March 2013 at 14:25‎ (ID - 117.222.211.50 coz I forgot to log in) but again on 4 March 2013‎ at 00:39 user named Sitush edited it resulting in loss of entire information on the page. You can see the history to check my contributions to the page. So please allow this page to be Fully-protected so that it truly serves the purpose for which it was created. Rocking18 (talk) 10:04, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) Looking at Sitush's edit, it was because the information added was unsourced, which was removed by said user. Information on Misplaced Pages must be cited by a reliable source, or it may be deleted. ZappaOMati 10:08, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

    Mafia state (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism from very similar IP ranges. For example, the numerous vandalism edits from this IP and now similar type of multiple vandalism attempts from this IP which is very close to the previous IP's range and same approximate location. Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – high level of IP vandalism and unsourced changes. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 06:53, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Minutes ago, I was just about to report this article here; there are also registered editors, such as Student "R," who keep vandalizing or adding other unsourced material. One or more of the IPs are obviously connected to one or more of the registered editors. Flyer22 (talk) 07:01, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

List of programs broadcast by Disney Channel (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Dynamic IP's keep adding unsourced info to this page. Digifan23 (talk) 06:41, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

    Hershel Schachter (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Fanatics deleting well cited and researched sources for the sole purpose of trying to falsify his history. They also refer to him as a "luminary," in disregard of Misplaced Pages not being for self-promotion. Ypostelnik (talk)

Sultanate of Rum (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Several IP users and one user started to add POV content on this article (replacing accepted/sourced content with same POV). All of their edits are same. Diffs: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. I think a temporary semi-protection is necessary because those IP users don't stop their non-constructive edits and use disruptive/bad edit summaries (seems to be one person). Bifurcation of Nerodimka river (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

A rolling archive of the last seven days of protection requests can be found at Misplaced Pages:Requests for page protection/Rolling archive.
