She is also the chairwoman of the We Love U Foundation and the New Life Welfare Foundation. The members of the World Mission Society Church of God call her “Jerusalem Mother” or “Heavenly Mother” and believe that she is “God the Mother”.
History in the World Mission Society Church of God
Chang Gil Jah joined the New Covenant Passover Church of God while living in Busan, South Korea, with her husband Jae Hoon Kim and her 2 children. Chang Gil-Jah is alleged to have divorced her husband, and father of her children, in order to follow Ahnsahng-hong's teachings. After the death of Ahn Sahng-hong, the founder of the New Covenant Passover Church of God, the church split. One group stayed with the original church and another group left with Chang Gil Jah and Joo-Cheol Kim and changed their name to Ahnsahnghong's Witnesses and later to the World Mission Society Church of God. The World Mission Society Church of God claims that Ahn Sahng-hong appointed Chang Gil Jah as his spiritual wife. Ahn Kwang-Sup, a son of Ahn-Sahng-hong as well as a Pastor of the New Covenant Passover Church of God, says that Chang Gil-Jah was not his father’s spiritual wife.
Criticism
“The idea of God the Mother is delusional”
Ahn Sahng-hong wrote in his book “Problems with the New Jerusalem, the Bride and Women’s Veils” that the idea of a “Heavenly Mother” is delusional. WMSCOG members have criticized the release of this book by the NCPCOG, claiming that Ahnsahng-hong was specifically addressing another woman named Eom Soo-In despite the fact that Ahnsahng-hong refuted the very same doctrine that the WMSCOG uses to support that Chang Gil-Jah (Zhang Gil-Jah) is the "God the Mother".
