godmode crashing your browser

How can I possibly do anything with a protected tag?. So, in a sense, you're correct; but in the sense of putting up that comment, you are wrong in assuming that I deleted a tag. Tsk tsk. Rahimi Boroujerdi
Hi, you left a message on User talk:Rahimiboroujerdi, the guy has reposted his autobiography here Alireza Rahimi Boroujerdi and obviously it's been AfDd again and tagged for speedy as repost (which I am reluctant to do having just voted in the AfD).
I'm a little concerned that there was no welcome message left and no reference to WP:AUTO. I'm a bit worried about the current tendency to ], which is of course largely an artefact of the prevention of anon creation since previously these would have been aon pages and nobody would have cared about biting the IP address. Anyway, I just thought I'd voice my concern in an attempt to maybe gain a recruit to my one-man crusade to userfy instead of deleting trivial autobiographies ;-) Cheers, - Just zis Guy, you know? / AfD? 15:00, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Originally, someone had put "DEREK IS A RACIST" all over the page. I can now see that it is repaired, however, at the time, the page was unsuitable for other viewers. I was told that unless its vandalism...
I was free to do whatever I wanted with my userpage. If we arent allowed to delete things that we find offensive, Then why was I told by an administrator that it was okay for me to delete some of the extra stuff from my page, conversely I have had many of my comments deleted when someone did NOT agree with them. If it is the policy to not allow users to delet garbage from there own discussion page, it should be enforced equally. I plan on reverting the page back to how I enjoy it, unless youcan give me some reference to your reasoning. Thank you pickelbarrel 01:45, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

World of Warcraft
If it's a GLT-friendly guild, that obviously implies that it is friendlier to GLTs than to other players, otherwise such denomination would not have been necessary. And that IS discrimination. --Andrelvis 18:11, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
I understand what you mean, however are the other guilds more friendly to heterossexuals? I must frankly say I don't know. I think sexual inclination just doesn't matter, does it? Well, it does because it is a roleplaying environment, and therefore people with homossexual inclinations might wish their characters to be so as well. In this, I agree. Actually, I agree completely with you, though I think that 'GLT-friendly' then wouldn't be the best term to be used, but I'm not going to discuss to change a term, since it's not important, what important is the essence of the meaning, not the superciality of a term. Main Page
Re: "== FAC protection == Protecting the main page FAC is a horrible idea, IMO. It is policy to never protect anything on the main page. The reason is that we wish to encourage people to edit. When someone who is new comes here, the first thing that they will probably click on is the main page. If they find that they can't edit it, they will get put off from Wikis. There are people who are deveoted to vandal fighting. We have mulitple IRC channels wiht bots which report suspicious edits. Protecting the main page FAC is un-wiki and creates worse problems than you seem to think it solves. The main page FAC has multiple people watching it at any given times. There are other... which would be much harder to keep track of. —WAvegetarianCONTRIBS 19:33, 22 February 2006 (UTC)"
I totally disagree. You are also incorrect about nothing being protected. The main page itself is protected, as is the image for the day's FA and the intro on the main page for the FA. Protecting the main page article IS A GREAT IDEA. For example, the believers in non-protection want people to see the daily FA. Now, this actually happened today...someone wiped out the FA of the day, replaced it with a close up of a human male penis, and you have some new person check out wiki and see this as an example of "wiki's best"...??? Say said person was 11 years old. What kind of signal does that send? Anyone seriously interested in the daily FA will come back to it and multiple people shouldn't be having to watch it in the first place and wasting time chasing vandals. There should also be a requirement for all users to have a verified email account; this would cut vandalism way, way down, as it'd be easier to track and stop them. I don't suppose you would happen to have or be able to obtain a video of a sloth moving do you that can be released under the GFDL or other suitable license? Having seen their movement myself on TV I think it would be quite a useful addition to the sloth article as one of their most unique features is clearly their movement speed but I suspect it's something that's difficult for many to appreciate if they haven't seen it. Videos are still rare on wikipedia but official policy states you should use Ogg/Theora . However, if you have some other format, I could probably convert it for you. I'm dropping you this note because you recently edited either the Oberlin page or its talk page. Word Freak (book)
Hello Conner. Pleased to meet you. I see you wrote the Word Freak article. (I just figured out how to use the history.) Are you a tourney Scrabble player? What's your ranking? Are you still under 18?
Good choice on backing Kerry, by the way! I got to meet Edwards on the campaign trail, and it was quite a treat. Sarah crane 21:47, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Heh, I recently broke up with a ditzy, SCRABBLE® playing vegan named Sarah. Strange. I see you're taken, however.
- Oh wow, that's really weird! I hope she didn't give us Scrabbler-Sarahs a bad name. :) Did she do you wrong? If so, I'll have to find me long-lost-twin and have a word with her. ;)
- I really meant to be a tourney player, but my life got very busy with preparing for college, finishing high school, being a full time residential summer camp counselor, and craziness my first year of college.
- Yeah, life happens. That's okay. You don't really want to end up like GI Joel or Matt Graham, trust me. I got to meet Joel Sherman once. He was really nervous -- I think he's one of those guys who gets really nervous around girls. I was going to bat my eyelashes and flirt a little, since he's a celebrity after all, but I didn't want to make him even more uncomfortable.
- There also haven't been, AFAIK, any tournaments near Oberlin recently.
- You live in Oberlin? Oh cool! I'm in Cincinnati.
- I will be playing in my first tournament soon (the one in Seattle the week after school lets out). I'm not sure how my rating will end up, but it won't be that high. My average is definitely still over 300, but I haven't had as much time this semester as I'd wanted to work on my game. I'm also not at all up to speed on the new word list.
- Remember ILIA, INIA, and IXIA. Great vowel dumps. Saved my life many times. And with QI and KI, now you have to be extra careful not to play an I next to a triple-letter-score!
- I did manage to organize folks and submit the paperwork for an official club at Oberlin College and look forward to intermural competition with the OSU club, which was recently featured on the front page of the SCRABBLE® News. I'm no longer under 18—birthday on July 4—so I'm going to work on getting the Oberlin club sanctioned.
- My should-have-been-birthday is tomorrow. I technically won't turn 20 for another 2 weeks, but I was born late, so it'll be 20 years since my due date. I guess that counts for something! :)
- I wasn't able to get my high school club sanctioned because Hasbro's legal folk want a legally responsible person to be there to blame/sue at every club. Oh well, c'est la vie. I'm very envious of your having gotten to meet Edwards. I'll console myself with being a family friend of "Baghdad Jim" McDermott. His brother and my dad have been best friends since college. —WAvegetarian•CONTRIBUTIONS• • 07:17, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Crossing the Red Line
Hi again. Have you read Crossing the Red Line from the New York Review of Books? I found the article in "The Best Science Writing of 2004", and it's amazing, and well-written. It's about climate change and peak oil and alternative fuels and all that. The author reviews 9 different books about the subjects, and distills them all very well. Anyway, I hope you're having a good time. Sarah crane 13:33, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

- The picture is excellent, it really adds to the article immenseley and I'm glad you decided to contribute it! Also the featured pic voters are EXTREMELY anal and almost every picture submitted for that status are declined (just take a look at the nomination page). I thought it was worth a shot though, and if it brings more attention to expanding/improving the article, or getting people to contribute more pictures to the article it would be a great success! Argument time!
YOU said THIS to ME:
"We strive for a neutral point of view in Misplaced Pages. We also have a policy of verifiability. I think you will have a hard time finding a source which proves that the Klan is inherently evil. I also know that your statement was factually incorrect as not all Klan members are murderers, just as not all White, Black, Muslim, or Christian people are murderers. I think the actions and recorded opinions of the Klan speak clearly enough for themselves. You don't need to embellish the article with your own hatred. —WAvegetarian•CONTRIBUTIONSTALK• EMAIL• 02:34, 23 April 2006 (UTC)"
I think that you are too closed minded. You say that "not all klan members etc.". I meant the Klan as a whole. Fine, if you don;t want the first sentence to say what I put. Put it about 1/3 of the way down or so, that's a fair compromise. I'll check back soon for this change, and I'm glad we were able to reach an agreement :) !—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.162.64.194 (talk • contribs) 02:52, April 23, 2006 (UTC)
I am new to this wikipedia and this english language, but my words don't speak loudly? THey are typed what do I need to do, use capitals or some such device? more exclamation points? ALso I suggest we launch a website together with the objective being to create such a consenseus as you speak of. We can call it agreement.com or kkkisevil.com or maybe kkk.com if it isn't taken. I must be bringing up the point of view that if we make a consensus of users of the wikipedia then we are more or less limiting the vote on what can and can't be put to a certain group of people. Is this not why your Americans came to America at first? So all people could speak? I think maybe we should put in that the KKK is evil and see what problems people have with it, if there are any problems. Maybe just leave it there for a week or so. I will agree to your claims, you can put it 1/3 of the way down the page again if you think that it is being wise.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.162.64.194 (talk • contribs) 03:14, April 23, 2006 (UTC)
You see I am researching gays and their discrimination, and I am using this as one of my sites. I just thought perhaps I would add this fact about Pikachu because gayness is often associated with the cartoon creature. I put gay in quotes when I was doing this typing the reason being is that I didn;t want to be subjective. The reason I talk about the KKK is that I just find it to be wrong. I think that I am perhaps being unfairly judged for when I get up I have knowledge that a friend of mine ( i use the term lightly) has been altering the page of John Tesh the musician and perhaps this is reflecting poorly on me? GOing back to my topic I think that we can create a consensus on pikachu being related to 'gays' it is a common agreement. ?Signed? user Cordava.
Now I am told:
You misunderstand. Votes themself do no matter, it's the reasoning why you voted a particular way. Your opinions and the opinions of other editors are what provide concensus. This is not a democracy, and yes obviously prejudicial votes will not be counted. You are not wrong about the Klan as a whole having an evil connotation but that is informative, not encyclopedic. There is a difference. I also understand that language issues may cause you to misunderstand WAvegetarian's approach, the user is being very civil and working things out with you, you are not being criticized. by Teke.
My reasoning for putting in such information is that I believe it to be true! Is it not that a person who disagrees with myself has as much prejudice as I do? How can such editors ever provide consensus, if there is no right nor wrong? Why cannot all information be put on? Perhaps you should allow the information to tay for a while longer than it was staying, and in the event that an editor disagrees, it is now that a consensus must be reached? The opinions stated on the wikipedia should be greater than that of the wikipedia editors? Otherwise it is not a user-made encyclopedia, it is just one of the opinions of but a few people. Can you assure diversity in the opinions of your editors is as great as that in your users? You must include what is right instead of waht is accepted, but that is beside the point. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.162.64.194 (talk • contribs) 03:34, April 23, 2006 (UTC)
- I'll just respond here: "There is no truth; there is only you and what you make the truth." - Bright Eyes. Discuss it on the "Discussion" page, that is where we talk about things that are controversial to provide concensus. On a personal level, I agree with you in doing what is right over what is accepted, but this is not a place to expose personal preferences. I'm certain WAvegetarian and myself are more than happy to answer these and other questions you have; but once again there is no right answer. If aren't sure of an edit, refer to the Simple rules of editing. Teke 03:49, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

User:WAvegetarian/Suzy Sticks
Hi. I've userfied the article to the above slot. It's history is from creation through to the final edit before the AFD tag was added. I've restored the redirect complete with your DRV template, and there are 4 edits left deleted because they're garbage (the AFD tag, the redirect to your userspace etc):
- 03:56, 26 April 2006 . . Kingboyk (moved Suzy Sticks to User:WAvegetarian/Suzy Sticks: Userfying)
- 03:55, 26 April 2006 . . Kingboyk (Unprotected Suzy Sticks: Unprotecting)
- 16:43, 25 April 2006 . . Kingboyk (Protected Suzy Sticks: Restoring history for WP:DRV, and protecting per AFD result of delete )
- 02:19, 19 April 2006 . . Bottesini ({{subst:afd1}})
The DRV is still running, it doesn't really matter to me if it runs on or not, but if you're happy with this outcome (which a polite note on my talk page would have got for ya - just check my talk, I don't get many complaints! :)), strike the nom out. --kingboyk 04:05, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Copyvio
Actually, the copyvio rule is used all the time against companies engaged in self-promotion. It's an easy way to quickly get rid of people who just dumped their website onto a Misplaced Pages page. Realistically, you could argue that they might reasonably give themselves permission, but technically they've reposted copyrighted material without permission, and Misplaced Pages can't legally let it stay. Besides, it saves the trouble of taking them through a week of AfD and arguing over their notability. Fan1967 01:55, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Just add the tag at the top of the page as {{db-copyvio|url=http://www.originalwebsite.com}} It automatically expands into the what you find at {{db-copyvio}}. Fan1967 02:08, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- It's a choice. They always have the option of recreating it without the copyvio. Of course, they're likely to then get tagged trhough a normal AfD based on their failure of WP:CORP. The vast majority of the time, they don't even try. Fan1967 02:24, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and in most of the cases, someone else, who is a CCP, is hosting their website, and holds the copyright per the note at the bottom of the page. Fan1967 02:27, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Stub message at the top is a irritating reminder to us to do something about the species and not sleep over it. See some of our work at :-

I don't know what user to ask this to, but how do you add an image to Misplaced Pages?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Coby2 (talk • contribs) 03:35, May 4, 2006 (UTC)
Proposed mergers
Why are you not using Template:Mergeto, for example on Double Disc Court? Ardric47 07:06, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- This is very strange. It's like something is being subst-ed. For example, I once used mergeto on the Olof Haakonson article. It shows up in the wikitext as
- {{mergeto|Olav IV of Norway}}
- In Double Disc Court, however, the wikitext that I see is
- <div class="messagebox merge"><!--PNG images containing transparencies do not display properly for some users. Please consider this fact before replacing the already tiny GIF file.-->] It has been suggested that this article or section be ] into '']''. (])</div>]
- Are you seeing the same thing? Sorry for not really assuming good faith in my first comment. Ardric47 19:59, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- Having a place for centralized discussions like that could be useful in other situations, too. Perhaps you could make your template into a permanent one that accepts a parameter like {{mergeto2|proposeddestination|discussionpage}} ? Ardric47 20:32, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
USER BOX??
i know all that stuff you sent me but how do i do the userbox thing?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tado (talk • contribs) 02:32, May 9, 2006 (UTC)

Smile
This template must be substituted. Replace {{Template for discussion ...}} with {{subst:Template for discussion ...}}.
Tado has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling to someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Smile to others by adding {{subst:smile}}, {{subst:smile2}} or {{subst:smile3}} to their talk pages. Happy editing!

Your signature
Hey there. I noticed that your sig is 88 times longer than a somewhat recent comment of yours. While this isn't a big deal of course, a 443-character-long sig seems a bit excessive to me. After all, it's very easy to get to your talk, contributions, and email pages from your userpage, there's no real need to link all four. Just a suggestion. -kotra 09:48, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! Like I said, it's not a big deal, but I appreciate you saving a few resources by shortening it. I personally don't mind little shortcuts in sigs to one's talk page actually, it's really long sigs that are a pet peeve for me. Again, thanks! -kotra 22:24, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
