Welcome!

Hello, G2003, and welcome to Misplaced Pages! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Out To Swim, may not conform to some of Misplaced Pages's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Misplaced Pages:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! WuhWuzDat 19:19, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Out To Swim

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Out To Swim requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. WuhWuzDat 19:19, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to the LGBT Studies WikiProject!

Hi, G2003, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Misplaced Pages editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and intersex people. LGBT Studies covers people, culture, history, and related subjects concerning sexual identity and gender identity - this covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated! Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve articles, so if someone seeks help, please try to assist if you are able. Likewise feel free to ask for help, advice or clarification.
  • Many important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you're going to stay awhile, please create a square in our project quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

advice and warning

With respect to this article: First of all , it's an advertisement. Second, no indicate of importance according to WP:CORP Third, there are no true references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases.

Please do not resubmit until you have better references and can actually indicate encyclopedic importance. You have been submitting very similar articles repeatedly with out addressing the issue This is not constructive.

As reviewing administrator, I am beginning to wonder whether you are not acting as a purely promotional (possibly paid) editor for these organizations. We do not prohibit it, if the articles are satisfactory,. If they continue to be as unsatisfactory as this, you are likely to be blocked from contributing. DGG ( talk ) 01:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

btw, I did some fixes for Out to Swim. It's now a quite acceptable article; it was not t the stage it was in when you were working on it. I want to urge you not to stop editing, but to edit better. DGG ( talk ) 01:40, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

I am also a PR pro (in the US). I edit on a lot of marketing topics and on behalf of clients. Using AfC is the right approach to offering contributed articles on companies you represent, but in this particular case it seemed unlikely the article would ever meet our notability requirements. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Azeem Azam, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page MLS (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The draft seems to be WP:NOTHOWTO and WP:PROMOTIONAL. Are you sure it meets the WP:GNG? If so, how so? Biosthmors (talk) 20:10, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks - it's a good point. Perhaps I haven't got the language or tone right. It's an established medical product that is used extensively by specialists for this specific type of surgery. It gets mentioned in medical journals and articles but not in the news media kind of way that I'm used to working with. Probably need to start from scratch and try again.G2003 (talk) 20:15, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
You're welcome. Those mentions sound trivial. Per GNG, we need significant coverage in independent (third-party) sources to demonstrate notability. Best. Biosthmors (talk) 20:18, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Repost of Rickie Sehgal

A tag has been placed on Rickie Sehgal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. Hello, G2003. We welcome your contributions to Misplaced Pages, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Rickie Sehgal, you should consider our guidance on Conflicts of interest and take a look at the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

All editors are required to comply with Misplaced Pages's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Misplaced Pages article or website of your organization in other articles (see Misplaced Pages:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Misplaced Pages's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Misplaced Pages when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:32, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
