Hello Cyclopia and welcome to Misplaced Pages! Hope you like it here, and stick around.

Belated Happy New Year with a Toast!

Here's a toast to the host
Of those who edit wiki near and far,
To a friend we send a message, "keep the data up to par".
We drink to those who wrote a lot of prose,
And then they whacked a vandal several dozen blows.
A toast to the host of those who boast, the Wikipedians!

Recent edit at Cannabis (drug)

You may be interested in my recent addition to the Talk page of Cannabis (drug). This further highlights some peer reviewed medical journals. Rlsheehan (talk) 15:10, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

More recent edits on the article today involve an editor removing the section you worked on the other day. I wonder if you've got this article on your watch list? I ask because it seems to be under attack, along with other cannabis-related articles, right now and could use extra watchers. petrarchan47tc 22:31, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
It is, but today's been a mess. Thanks for keeping my heads up -I'll look now. --Cyclopia 00:09, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
No problem, it is probably more of a long-term request. petrarchan47tc 00:37, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
It looks like we could use you again when you're available. Parts of the "safety" section that seemed well con-sensed are coming under question. I said I would ask you to come by and comment. petrarchan47tc 01:23, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, however I suspect you'll be disappointed. --Cyclopia 09:40, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 20

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Anhuiphyton, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Septa (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Andiva

Hello! You created the article about Andiva, I think this article will be interesting to you.

Ivantsov, A. Yu (2007). "Small Vendian transversely Articulated fossils". Paleontological Journal 41 (2): 113–122. Free temporary link to pdf

Andiva, Ovatoscutum and Dickinsonia had an no carapace. It was a fantasy of the Mikhail Fedonkin, which is not confirmed by fossils. Aleksey (Alnagov (talk) 22:28, 20 January 2013 (UTC))

Thanks! In fact I wrote "in the original Fedonkin reconstruction" or something like that. I'll look at the paper. --Cyclopia 22:38, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
Can you point me where in the paper it discusses the existence or less of the carapace hypothesized by Fedonkin? --Cyclopia 22:44, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
The hypothesis of the Mikhail Fedonkin not discusses in published articles. I discussed this idea with Andrey Ivantsov. In the published articles you can find that imprints of the Proarticulata are usually strongly compressed, distorted, curly or sprained (particularly this pertains to Ovatoscutum, Yorgia, Andiva and Dickinsonia) that disagrees to the carapace hypothesis. For example read Feeding traces of Proarticulata - the Vendian Metazoa Aleksey (Alnagov (talk) 21:10, 23 January 2013 (UTC))
Thanks, but if I want to fix the article, I need WP:RS explicitly refuting it, otherwise I sin of WP:SYNTHESIS. I however made clear it's just the original interpretation. --Cyclopia 09:50, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
For this reason I not create the new articles in Wiki and not edit the existing Wiki articles about some Ediacaran organism. I do not want to the promote invalid published information, and I can not refer to the not published information. We shall wait the new scientific articles. Aleksey (Alnagov (talk) 14:25, 24 January 2013 (UTC))
Then what are you doing here? Anyway, thanks a lot, and I'll be cautious in the future: however I'm curious to know why such new information is unpublished. --Cyclopia 14:28, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
It is published: for Yorgia see Ivantsov 2010, for Dickinsonia see Ivantsov 2010, Gehling 2005, Dzik and Ivantsov 1999, Runnegar 1982.
Chondroplon is known from single deformed fragmentary specimen, and can be Dickinsonia (Hofmann 1987).
WTF? You said it wasn't published, above, when I asked for papers. I'll look. --Cyclopia 21:08, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
In these articles the Fedonkin hypothesis is not discussed and mentionned, there broughted facts which disagrees to his hypothesis. Aleksey (Alnagov (talk) 21:25, 26 January 2013 (UTC))
But that's fine as well -I mean, if they explicitly state an alternative interpretation ,then I can put it in the article. --Cyclopia 00:27, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Shortcoming of these article is not about Andiva. Aleksey (Alnagov (talk) 08:13, 27 January 2013 (UTC))

There are two ways to express disagreement or doubt to the hypothesis:

  1. Ignoring. The idea is not popular amongst inhabitants and broad scientific public, is not accepted amongst specialists. No need in special immediate disclaimer. There are more hot topics.
  2. Disclaimer (for example, Kimberella)

There are more hot topics. M. Fedonkin proposed that Kimberella had a dense shell and a proboscis with two teeth. He had interpreted this animal as oldest mollusk (Fedonkin and Waggoner 1997, Fedonkin, Simonetta and Ivantsov 2007). This idea is become popular amongst inhabitants and scientists, is become the base for other hypothesises. However many characters of the imprints contradict the hypothesis of a shell and proboscis. The general body plan of Kimberella is substantially different from those previously proposed. (Ivantsov 2009, Ivantsov 2010, Ivantsov 2012) Aleksey (Alnagov (talk) 21:05, 26 January 2013 (UTC))

Taxobox for Vendian/Ediacaran fossils

I offer not to use generator Template:Taxonomy for Vendian organisms. Their classification and interpretation are weakly designed, inconsistent and changed in the time.

DYK for Andiva

Updated DYK queryOn 2 February 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Andiva, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Andiva (fossil pictured), an enigmatic animal that lived 555 millions of years ago, perhaps had a convex carapace? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Andiva. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Information icon Thank you for trying to keep Misplaced Pages free of vandalism. However, one or more edits you labeled as vandalism are not considered vandalism under Misplaced Pages policy. Misplaced Pages has a stricter definition of the word "vandalism" than common usage, and mislabeling edits as vandalism can discourage newer editors. Please read Misplaced Pages:NOTVAND for more information on what is and is not considered vandalism. Thank you. Your placing of a vandalism warning on the talk page of DracoEssentialis over her change on the image used on Jimmy Wales was absolutely inappropriate. The choice of infobox image is a content dispute and you should have followed WP:BRD rather than templating the user and then running off to AN. Please AGF in the future.alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 17:25, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Ouch! You've used a template to send a message to an experienced editor. Please review Misplaced Pages:Don't template the regulars or maybe listen to a little advice. Doesn't this feel cold, impersonal, and canned? It's meant in good humor. Best wishes.alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 17:27, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Are you just kidding, or are you really thinking that the addition of that image with that caption is a standard content dispute? --Cyclopia 17:30, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
Tell me which one of these it is: WP:VANDTYPES. It may be that it's one of these: WP:NOTVAND, but as you can see, those are not vandalism. I would say that a change in infobox image with any reasonably descriptive caption is in fact a content dispute. You may legitimately disagree with that, but there is no way it's vandalism, and you should not have used twinkle to issue a vandalism warning template. Your failure to AGF strikes me as WP:TWABUSE.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 17:42, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
