possible to restore the article?

Hello! I am beginner in add articles. Yesterday you deleted 2 of my article - Elena Efimova, Nadejda Zaslavskaya. Is it possible to recover them? I think that the reason is not correct (A7: Article about a real person, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject). Because these two people are very well known and respected in the field of Russian law. Articles written by professors of Moscow State University, they do not have false facts. What do I need to add them again? Sorry for the mistakes, I do not know much English. Sincerely, Anna. AnnaParfireva (talk) 14:55, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

There may be a translation issue. It looked like the articles were about students (candidates for a degree) rather than professors. Even so, not every professor is notable, so creating three or four articles at a time made them look less notable.
I would focus on finding sources written about Efimova and the others that are written by sources outside the university. That's one measure of notability, is whether the person is important enough that secondary sources—journalists and scholars outside their own school—have written about them. —C.Fred (talk) 16:21, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Ariana Grande

You might want to consider either semi-protection or pending changes. Too much vandalism and addition of unsourced content as of late. — Confession0791 17:34, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

how to upload Jordan Older image?

Thanks for your time on my article regarding Jordan Older. I can promise you it is all 100% factual and honest. How can I properly upload the image so it won't get deleted? Fussballspieler11 (talk) 03:04, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Well...you'll need to find another image. Wikimedia Commons does not allow any non-free images to be uploaded. Misplaced Pages allows non-free images to be uploaded but under strict conditions, and one of those is that a free image cannot otherwise be obtained. Since Jordan Older is alive, it is possible for a free image to be taken of him. Thus, non-free images of Older cannot be used in the article. Non-free images include photos taken at games by wire services; photos from programs, rosters, media guides, or team websites; photos from newspaper or magazine articles; and photos from the subject's website or Facebook profile (unless the images are clearly labeled as being under a free license). —C.Fred (talk) 03:12, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Can I email him and ask him for permission to use it? How would that be done? Fussballspieler11 (talk) 03:32, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
WP:Donating copyrighted materials has details on the process. Note that it's not necessarily Older that you need to ask to donate the image. You have to ask the owner of the image, which may be the original photographer or the organization for whom the photo was taken. —C.Fred (talk) 03:34, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
I got it from his Facebook profile, can I ask him to post on his Facebook profile that it is a free image that can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons? Fussballspieler11 (talk) 03:32, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
He'd need to specify what license it's under; CC-BY-SA 3.0 is usually good. —C.Fred (talk) 03:34, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll see what I can do. Then can I undelete it or do I have to re-upload it? I don't want to bother you too much, but I read your comment about the use of bold. I'm reading http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style and it's quite long. Can you give me some quick tips on what to do so you can remove the "cleanup" warning from the article? Should I just remove all the bold in the article except for his name? I like to use the bold to make some of the main points stand out. Let me know if its not too much trouble. You have been very helpful. Thanks again! Fussballspieler11 (talk) 03:43, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Derek Acorah

Hi - I note your removal of my edit to the Derek Acorah Misplaced Pages page. I have not removed the item of controversy but have shortened it somewhat. My reason for doing this is that the ONE occasion where the above has been accused of fakery it is shrouded with intrigue. The facts surrounding the accusation are covered by a legal contractual confidentiality agreement and so Mr. Acorah has never been able to answer these accusations himself. Most Haunted was a heavily edited entertainment programme. Ciaran O'Keeffe was not the person who devised the alleged "test" (as confirmed by Yvette Fielding in this months "Haunted" digital magazine) but it was the work of another person. It was common for people to be scripted during the making of the programme even though this fact was not known to the viewing public. Mr. Acorah was merely following instructions but of course this fact was used against him when he gave in his notice to Living Television 12 months prior to his actual leaving of the programme. This matter took place eight years ago and has been used constantly by the Most Haunted programme makers in an effort to ruin his career. Although the fact cannot be taken away, I think short mention rather than extended coverage should be used on Misplaced Pages especially in the light of the current legal climate. Mr. Acorah conducts theatre demonstrations on more than 100 occasions each year and has done for over 20 years. He has made numerous television programmes with different productions companies. Never once has anybody ever accused him of cheating. This is one isolated incident where people are still determined after all this time to attempt to ruin him. It is no coincidence that since Mr. Acorah's leaving of the Most Haunted programme in 2005 the viewing figures dropped dramatically and continued to do so until the programme's demise almost three years ago.

Thanks for moderating my article

C.Fred,

I've supplied 3 or 4 reputable, 3rd party references proving notability according to Association Football notability.

One should be enough right?

  • 1))

- reference 7 lists the USL Pro Soccer League (USL 1 or 2) where the subject played 4 games in 2003, these are not the biggest leagues in the USA but they are listed as fully professional at

http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football/Fully_professional_leagues

  • 2))- reference 1 lists 3 teams in the Paulista Serie A and 1 team in the Brazilian Serie A, these are THE biggest leagues in Brazil and are listed as fully professional at

http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football/Fully_professional_leagues

  • 3)) - reference 3 lists that the subject played professionally in Brazil and Europe and so much so that he is able to orchestrate player transfers of local kids into the German Bundesliga

  • 4)) the official Sao Paulo FC fan site/blog from 1999 lists the same 3 teams as the Futebol Interior feature article, which I found on the first page of Futebol Interior, it would be hard to fake exactly matching facts between an article in 1999 and one in 2013, showing that the player played in the big leagues in Brazil, correct?

- reference 1 lists 3 teams in the Paulista Serie A and 1 team in the Brazilian Serie A, these are THE biggest leagues in Brazil and are listed as fully professional at

http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football/Fully_professional_leagues

- it also lists him as playing along site Sao Paulo FC star defender in Wilson

I've also read that the subject has been subject to a hostile take over of his film festival so I think that this may be the reason for the high amount of attention for a notable but not super famous soccer player. It may be, not saying that it is, an attempt to smear his reputation by those who attempted the hostile takeover.

I found this press release: http://www.reuters.com/article/2009/02/27/idUS120964+27-Feb-2009+PRN20090227

And this article, both outlining the hostile conflict with another group trying to take over his film festival business: http://www.vcreporter.com/cms/story/detail/will_the_real_ventura_film_festival_please_stand_up/7035/

For this reason I think that my article should have special consideration and be protected, if there is a feature for that on Misplaced Pages, or else these "flames" will continue forever. They have already been going on since 2007, which is about the time that the hostile takeover attempt started, according to the press release and reports.

My other logic for thinking these "flames" as frivilous is that there are literally thousands of other less notable, far less notable, American soccer players with existing articles on Misplaced Pages who have played in lower leagues, never played in the big leagues in Brazil, never went to Team USA training camp, etc.... just far less notable, and far less attention/contention. I think that by definition, the high attention to my article proves that the subject is famous and notable OR the recipient of a corporate smear campaign (or somehting elese?)

Another point I want to make is that it's not just the achievments of the subject in soccer, its the time when he did it. He started playing in Europe in 1993 and Brazil in 1994 when literally almost no Americans were doing it. There were probably less than 5 Americans starting for teams in 1993 in Europe. He's a true pioneer and notable for this reason. But you might have to be a soccer fan to understand this.

The subject should also be notable based on having founded and directed the largest film festival in Ventura County hosting Academy Award winning stars, but I want this to be a secondary emphasis. The fact that he played soccer professionally in Europe and Brazil and the USA AND does the film festival is rare and special in itself and is proven by the many feature articles like the one in Surfe Magazine and the VC Star.

I'm just trying to make sense of all this and maybe you can help. Thanks again for the Misplaced Pages ettiquite tips and mini-lessons on things like my signature. I would never have learned that without your help!
