Juan Pablo Galavis (born August 5, 1981) is an American born, former professional football midfielder/forward, who retired in 2008.
Football career
Born in Ithaca, New York, Galavis moved with his family to Barquisimeto, Venezuela when he was two years old. He returned to the United States to play college soccer for Roberts Wesleyan College, where he is the third all-time assists leader. After several seasons playing in the Primera División Venezolana with Caracas FC, Deportivo Italia and Monagas Sport Club, he joined Miami FC in February 2008.
Entertainment career
Juan Pablo decided to stop playing soccer after his daughter Camila was born in February 2009 because he did not want to move away (rumors were that Miami fc was unhappy with his performance and were shopping him to potential trade suitors) from Miami. He began his career in the Music Business by promoting local bars/clubs and Venezuelan singers in the city of Miami with Musician/Songwriter Frank Santofimio and Mario Donoso. They began with Venezuelan duet Chino y Nacho, whom after the promotion got a record deal with Universal Music Latin. Servando y Florentino, L'Squadron, Treo, Obie Bermudez and Jerry Rivera are some of the bands he had an assisting role in bringing to Miami the following years.
Galavis began filming television commercials, and had a short stint working as a television presenter for a Miami-based, spanish sports show, Mega News.
Galavís appeared as a contestant on the reality television show The Bachelorette in May 2013, but subsequently lost the competition. Juan Pablo is the next bachelor!
He was subsequently chosen as The Bachelor on the show's eigteenth seaso.
