Bengali Kayasthas is one of the top three casts of the Hindu Bengalis (the other two being Brahmin & Baidya), that are present in the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura, Assam and in the country of Bangladesh. Bengali Kayasthas is Hindu by religion. Kayastha is an upper caste.
Common Kayastha surnames are - Basu/Bose, Ghosh, Mitra, Guha, Sen, Singh/Sinha, Dutta, Dey/Dev, Das/Dass, Kar, Dhar, Chanda/Chandra, Nag, Nandi, Palit, etc.
