Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Stellar Search (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated – The same user seems to insist on re-creating for promotional purposes. I know this has been only twice so far and three times is usual before protecting, but this is only going to keep happening (0.9 probability). Fiddle Faddle 10:06, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

    Boss (2013 Hindi film) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – New film which generates a lot of buzz with good collection at the Box office. Plus the article is a DYK appearant and at the same time today is the films release date so the traffic (negative mind you) is huge. There are GF edits which are going useless due to all the Blogging, spamming, unreliable sources, removal of content along with various mp3sites and wannabe music & film reviewers inserting links to their respective review sites. All the GF editors are account holders and will not be troubled whatsoever due to the protection but it will only result in the betterment of the article. If there are any doubts please go through thoroughly through the article history and consider its necessity and urgency. I am having problems with my net connectivity otherwise I would have taken care of it myself. Sohambanerjee1998 09:51, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection immediately or block IP user continuosly adding false charts and sources to the article. —Indian:BIO · 09:19, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Spambot attacks. See AF log. Glaisher 09:17, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Declined, I fully admit to not being an expert on the filter, but how does changing protection help? The filter's doing its job and stopping those edits, and there isn't enough other edits to warrant protection. Get back to me if I'm misunderstanding it all. GedUK  11:31, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Property and Freedom Society (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – A third editor has come in to remove a NPOV-section template whereas the NPOV issue is not resolved. – S. Rich (talk) 05:39, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

The NPOV issue exists solely in Srich32977's mind; nobody else believes it's there, so we removed the tag. He's been edit-warring against multiple editors to keep it in, and now he's here for your help. MilesMoney (talk) 05:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
In full disclosure, and not wanting to engage in forum shopping, I have posted a WP:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Tag-team removal of NPOV-section template. This RPP was done after the third removal (by MilesMoney). The ANI was posted after MilesMoney had removed the template for the fourth time. Also I had posted RPP earlier and then removed it with the hopes that RPP would not be needed. How to proceed? I suggest admins ignore the RPP for now, but follow the ANI and see what resolution comes about. – S. Rich (talk) 06:14, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Rich, you're making it sound as if I removed it four times, which simply isn't true. The truth is that you've added it four times and we've each removed it once or twice, after discussing it on the talk page. The ANI is blatant forum-shopping, motivated by the fact that protecting it now would not serve your purposes, as the "wrong" version is current. MilesMoney (talk) 06:26, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution., This isn't an edit war, it's one user restoring tags against the consensus. Probably needs some DR. GedUK  11:35, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

    Brayton Purcell (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: persistent addition of blatantly promotional content by unregistered editors. Phil Bridger (talk) 22:11, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Consider the edit warring noticeboard – This is a case of possible edit-warring by one or two users. Mark Arsten (talk) 00:52, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Further information: Misplaced Pages:Edit requests Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
