Sir Terence Alexander Hawthorne English KBE FRCS FRCP (born 3 October 1932) is a South African-born British retired cardiac surgeon. He was Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Papworth Hospital and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, 1973–1995.

He was President of the Royal College of Surgeons 1989-92, Master of St Catharine's College, Cambridge, 1993–2000. He was knighted (KBE) in 1991.

His second wife whom he married in 2002 is Lady Judith English, Principal of St Hilda's College, Oxford 2001-2007.
