Kino Beats Article

Hi Mr. Jim! I would like to write the article on a music Producer named Kino Beats. He is from my area but is recognized by various mainstream artists on a national scale. I attempted to complete the article a while ago but it was deleted. What do I need to do in order to have this page added? I have music credits and can most likely obtain any other information you may need in order for the article to be submitted. I appreciate your efforts in keeping wikipedia as accurate and informative as possible. Best, Ravenn Rmcdo011 (talk) 19:08, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello

Why was the page for the Suburban League, California deleted? You have pages for the Moore League and several other High School sports leagues.

Hi, I see that this article was deleted by you just about a year ago. Since, it now passes the notability criteria, I intend to create an article on him. —Vensatry (Ping me) 17:40, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

The Female Struggle

The Female Struggle Hi, I am not sure why the page on The Female Struggle was deleted. This is a neutral article on this new book and does not contain any promotional material. Can this be restored please? Atrivedi008 (talk) 18:22, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Suburban League

The league is very notable the amount of high school talent to come out of the league is amazing. Jim Zorn, Ben Howland, Jason Kapono, James Harden, the O'Bannon Brothers, Marcelo Balboa. Plus the Moore League has its own page — Preceding unsigned comment added by MikeMcD1982 (talkcontribs) 21:27, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Pete Van Dyk

Hi Jim,

This is with regard to the page for Pete Van Dyk that you deleted. I am Pete Van Dyk and I am the creator and host of "Live From the Dutch Hall with Pete Van Dyk" which is a podcast which is hosted by Podbean and available on iTunes. One of my listeners created the Misplaced Pages page for me based on a conversation I had in my last podcast. I understand you removed it because my accomplishments listed are seen as "insignificant". I respectfully disagree. I would ask that the page be reinstated or please tell me what needs to happen to reinstate the page. If there is nothing you are willing to do to reinstate, I would ask that you provide me with a copy of the information so that I can use it for future reference.

Thanks Pete Van Dyk https://en.wikipedia.org/User:Dutchhall

Abattoir Fermé

Dear Jimfbleak, thanks for reviewing but after some thought I can't really understand why the page for Abattoir Fermé was marked for speedy deletion by Vanjaganie and consequently deleted by you. You state 'self-promotion' and 'similar content as available on the artist's website' as reasons, but I'd like to bring out the following counter-arguments:

- this English article is an abridged version of what is also available on the subject on the Belgian Wiki and which had been contributed and redacted by several other Wikipedians other than just myself. I tried to only keep the most (internationally) relevant info for this version in order to contribute a short, factual, introductory article on a theatre company that is regularly a guest on internationally known festivals and venues.

- Some content bears indeed resemblance to what the artist write about theirselves on their own page, but I tried to be critical about that: the tone of the article is in my opinion not self-promotional at all, rather neutral. For example: naming the key members and stating that said theatre company is active in diverse sub-genres (puppet theatre, dance, visual theatre etc.) is hardly being promotional, but rather a factual statement, no? Would like to hear your thoughts.

I'm rather new to Wiki but try to do my best in my field of expertise and am therefore open for any input! For example, what would you suggest to improve the article on Abattoir Fermé and where? If sources (obviously other than the artists themselves) are needed, where exactly would citation be neededd and which specific sections of the article need improvement? Thanks!

PS - I also sent Vanjagenie the same questions and arguments.

Wan't spam

Greetings. I added the link to the video "My Life as a Turkey" which you removed from Wild Turkey, alleging it to be "spam". I have no connection whatsoever with the video or any of the artists, though I did watch it online today for the first time. I checked to see if the video or the author of the book and video was notable and there seems to be good grounds for regarding the video as notable, since it won an Emmy award. So I created a page: My Life as a Turkey. As someone who lives around turkeys but is not an ornithologist I found this video fascinating and informative. Plus it's notable. I believe this gives good grounds for restoring it as an external link. I don't see why you say it wasn't available, I had not trouble watching it online. Please explain here or on Talk:Wild Turkey if you still believe a link is inappropriate. Otherwise, let's restore it. Thanks. -- Presearch (talk) 08:07, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello Jim, thanks for your thoughtful response over at my talk page. It's disturbing to know that you aren't able to view that video - I didn't know that sort of thing happened, broken down by country like that (I am in US). Anyway, sounds like that's just a fact of life, and I see it reduces the interest of an external link. However, I do want to add two points of fact: The book My Life as a Turkey is not about domestic turkeys - it is completely about wild turkeys. Therefore a link would seem more appropriate, not less, at the wild turkey article than at a domestic turkey article.
Second, permit me to point out that the Wild Turkey article is an encyclopedia article, not a biology article (please beware of WP:OWN). If it is not covered elsewhere in a fork, perhaps the article should be expanded to cover wild turkeys in media, or something like that (the film itself is arguably a form of ethology, although, as you say, it might not be regarded as an RS for that purpose). Or if there is not enough material for a new section on turkeys in media, then the "see also" would be an appropriate place for such a link. As an award-winning film, this material is appropriate for inclusion in such coverage. And such coverage is part of the mission of an encyclopedia. Please consider these issues, and respond appropriately. Thank you and have a nice day. -- Presearch (talk) 19:38, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
PS Two additional comments: 1) When I made my first comment above, I had seen that you deleted something from Wild Turkey / See also section, and assumed it was this video, but it was something else. Glad you agree it's OK to leave in See also section (that was my major thrust above - but I had jumped to conclusions!); 2) Yes my first insertion of the external link was misphrased, and placed too great emphasis on book; anyway, that's moot, now, since video can't be viewed everywhere. I am content with pages at present. Please have a pleasant week. -- Presearch (talk) 20:11, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Monica Wilson

Could you check the history of Monica Wilson? You deleted it as unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.linkedin.com/pub/monica-wilson/17/77b/308 which is some dancer's self-description. I think the page used to be about the South African anthropologist, though - could that version be reinstated please? Dsp13 (talk) 20:59, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Main Page appearance: Bohemian Waxwing

This is a note to let the main editors of Bohemian Waxwing know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on January 12, 2014. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask Bencherlite (talk · contribs). You can view the TFA blurb at Misplaced Pages:Today's featured article/January 12, 2014. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Bohemian Waxwing

The Bohemian Waxwing is a passerine bird that breeds in the northern forests of Eurasia and North America. It has mainly buff-grey plumage, black face markings and a pointed crest. Its wings are patterned white and bright yellow, and some feather tips have the red waxy appearance that give this species its English name. Its breeding habitat is coniferous forests, usually near water. The pair build a lined cup-shaped nest in a tree or bush for a clutch of 3–7 eggs, incubated by the female alone for 13–14 days. Many birds desert their nesting range in winter and migrate further south. Large numbers of Bohemian Waxwings sometimes travel well beyond their normal winter range in search of the fruit that makes up most of their diet. Waxwings can be very tame in winter, entering towns and gardens in search of food, rowan berries being a particular favourite. They can metabolise alcohol produced in fermenting fruit, but can still become intoxicated, sometimes fatally. The Bohemian Waxwing's high numbers and very large breeding area mean that it is classified as being of Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. (Full article...)

Deletion of an article about an official institution of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina

Mr/Mrs. "Jimfbleak",

On 15 December 2013 you deleted our article about the official higher music education institution of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina: Conservatorio Superior de Música de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires "Astor Piazzolla". You are urged to withdraw (i.e., undo) your action, since by no means the cited article contains the alleged "Unambiguous advertising or promotion". On the contrary, the mentioned text is similar to numerous previous articles contained in Misplaced Pages-—which were not yet deleted—-featuring similar Argentine institutions, such as: Conservatorio_Nacional_de_Música_(Argentina). Note, also, that further measures should be taken in order to ensure transparent and non discriminatory actions like the above described. Nelida Rocca Nelidarocca (talk) 14:19, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Comments added at User talk:Nelidarocca on this regard. For the record, I do believe the article was not a G11 and probably not even an A7 as the institution is notable, even though notability was not properly asserted in the article. In any case, the comments I left in her user page are regarding AGF and NLT on this matter, not the article itself, which would have to be re-written in a more encyclopaedic way. -- Alexf 18:10, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you so much, Alexf, for your understanding and for noting the notability of the institution, as well as for your opinions stating that the "the article was not a G11 and probably not even an A7". The main problem with the article was that it was left as a stub and, when I tried to complete it today, I found out that it had been deleted under a wrong understanding of the real situation. Nelidarocca (talk) 19:34, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Not exactly -- as noted in your talk page (please let's continue the discussion there to keep it in one place), it was also a copyvio and would have been removed for that reason. As per the institution, I know the notability, but you have not shown it properly. For any article to stay (besides not being a copyvio of course) it must follow the Golden Rule. This one did not. If you are working on creating a new article which is not yet ready, please do not do it in mainspace as you did. That publishes it publicly and makes it immediately subject for deletion if warranted. Instead, work on it in a subpage or sandbox then publish, or better yet, request a review at Articles for Creation to avoid these issues. -- Alexf 19:49, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Where to quote and answer what you wrote on my talk page?

I replied to you answer, in bold text between brackets, on my talk page. Be sure to check it and let me/us know accordingly. Nelidarocca (talk) 16:21, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello Jim. I was about to write a page about notable Indian Politician Surendra Singh Nagar and noticed that this page was earlier deleted by you (in 2009).
