Hmm: the contents of this article bear an uncanny resemblance to . Does this need to be fixed? Senderspace 22:51, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
While researching the reason for the leak in the sea chest I noticed similar wording on a number of sites. It's hard to know who the origiginal author is. --AussieLegend 03:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
This article is not very informative, it lacks many important details. For example the 'Aftermath' is pointless, it is devoid of any useful information such as the actual fate of the captian.24.201.140.3 00:32, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
@AussieLegend,I looked at an online simulation on Youtube according to it a corner of the Sea Chest was rusted.
Removed Text
I have noticed this page has been vandalized and I have removed the sentence "Cowardly captain James Mayne fled, leaving women, children, and his own pet rats for dead." from the opening paragraph of this article.Tundrawinds 16:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- According to Time, he left his pet dog and canary aboard to be rescued by one of the entertainers who was left to command the rescue effort. That article, however, states that our illustrious Capt. Avranas departed by helicopter whereas all other sources mention he left by lifeboat (one source even mentions that the Avranas & Crew wasted a second lifeboat to haul luggage). MOSS HILL was also on the MS Achille Lauro when it collided and suffered a huge fire. See CH4 documentary "Why ships sink" 01/04/2012 21:00 82.21.204.60 (talk) 20:43, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
Misquote
The Captain actually said "If some people like to stay, they can stay.", vs. the quoted "If some people want to stay, they can stay." ('like' vs 'want') The reference contains this misquote, which is why I didn't edit the change in the article text. I have just listened to the quote twice on TV, and clearly heard the word 'like' and not 'want'. The quote was also translated onscreen as 'like', so there's no doubt about it. As I said, the reference is wrong, and who knows, maybe their source was wrong also. 99.92.102.115 (talk) 06:45, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Slow-motion edit-warring
Brimspark is edit-warring in slow motion adding material from a unreliable source which is a personal website by one of the survivors of the sinking. Example:
Moss and Tracy Hills and four others were recognized for their bravery and valour.[http://www.oceanossinking.com/index.php?page_id=16
Let's get this straight: The website belongs to Tracy Hills and the edit says that Moss and Tracy Hills and four others were recognized for their bravery and valour.. In other words Brimspark's edit uses Tracy Hill's personal website to add praise for Tracy Hill. In addition, other material Brimspark is introducing is unsourced. Let's get serious. I will take this to WP:ANI if this editing behaviour continues. Δρ.Κ. 17:48, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
