Clay Serby Article

I deleted the majority of the article as it was taken directly from another website.

Bot made mistake with revision

The bot reverted an edit of a release date for the port of Half-Life Deathmatch. The original version said it was released 21 days ago, on May 2, 2006. I have been playing this game for quite a bit longer than 21 days. It is an undisputed fact that the game was released on November 30th, 2004. The article is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/Half-Life ; and the date is under the "Later Developments" heading.

I need your advice on my edits on Khatri article

I made some edits to the khatri article twice but they were reverted both times by Moderator3000. One was correcting a link to surname called Seth. The other was about Walias (which I linked) also being also called Ahluwalias.

Both these modifications are valid but they are being reverted both the times. I don't know if Moderator3000 is an official moderator of Misplaced Pages or is just doing what he seems fit.

Request for Adminship
Thank you for supporting/objecting/tropicanising me in my request for Adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a final vote count of 14/27/12, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was pleasantly suprised at the support, and was touched by it. I will also work harder on preventing disputes and boosting my edit count (which is on the up), so thank you to all your objectors. Hopefully I will re-apply soon and try again for the mop. Thanks again, Highway

Thanks

Dear Tawker — Thank you for your support on my recent RfA. It succeeded with a final tally of 72/2/0 and I am now an administrator. I'll be taking things slowly at first and getting used to the new tools, but please let me know if there's any adminnery I can help you with in the future. —Whouk (talk) 18:45, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

TawkerBot2

Do you have an IRC recent changes feed

We have RSS and atom feeds. I dunno what else you mean. We don't have IRC. http://www.biosector01.com/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges&feed=rss That would be our RSS feed. I hope you can work with that. ~~U

Thank-you

The count is in, and now I join the crew who wield the mops and pails.
Thanks for your support! I pledge to serve both you and Jimbo Wales.

If you have anything you need, then please don't think to hesitate.

For I am the very model of a grateful admin designate!

CorbinSimpson's Request for Adminship

Thanks for voting in my request for administrator rights, even though it failed (13/30/4). Sadly, work has forced me to respond to you all using a substituted message rather than a personalized response. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that administrators, to me, should be chosen and approved by the community, and I will continue working to become a better editor and Wikipedian. No matter what the alignment of your vote was, I will take your comments seriously and use them to improve myself. If you wish to discuss your comments personally with me, I would be more than glad to talk about things since the RfA is now over; just leave your concern on my talk page and we will sort things out. Thanks again for voting, and happy editing! - Corbin

Tawkerbot2 - Clone?

I was just wondering if you are still 'looking' for another person to host Tawkerbot2? If so, I'd be interested in giving it a go, if possible for both me and you. I had a few questions which I hope you'd have time to answer even if you don't need another host for Tawkerbot2.

  1. What are the specifications for running the bot? For example, operating system – I know a lot of bots these days are only Windows or Linux compatible for example.
  2. What programs are required for running the bot?
  3. I'm not incredibly clever with the technical side of things, so what other kind of things are needed and are they all free?
  4. Would the clone be capable of running simultaneously with Tawkerbot2? That is to say, if the two are reverting at the same time (Tawkerbot2 getting some vandalisms, and the clone getting the others), would they work well or would this produce malfunctioning, for example the clone reverting Tawkerbot2?

Thanks, — FireFox 19:29, 11 June '06

Your userpage

Not sure if you noticed yet, but you've got some formatting problems on your awards section. The text that's supposed to name the specific award is sort of... Out there. :) 69.145.123.171

...Wait. What? Your page is protected, so I can't edit it. That, and my formatting skills are terrible. :) 69.145.123.171

Request for Tawkerbot2 for the Commons

Hi Tawker, I was wondering if we could have a Tawkerbot2 for the Commons? The main two types of vandalism/damage we have are blanking and "tests"/gibberish (lots of ] links... oh wait, they're redlinks in the Commons :)). I imagine they would be reasonably easy to pick up. We don't really have an RC patrol to speak of so it could be handy. Let me know what would be needed.

cheers, pfctdayelise (translate?) 11:05, 15 June 2006 (UTC) (commons:User:pfctdayelise)

...Guess I'll take that as a no, then. pfctdayelise (translate?) 02:46, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
It's on the list, its just a time thing right now, trying to fix in the custom things we need -- Tawker 02:52, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Is it possible to set up Tawkerbot2 to automatically revert all edits from a given user? This would make it possible to stop abusive users from AOL without risking collateral damage to other AOL users. --Carnildo 17:48, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

WP:RFBOT page

Tawker, I've noticed you giving approval to bot requesters, but do not see you in the approvals group. The bot policy is rather vauge about the bot approvals process, mentioning admins,'crats, stewards and the "approvals group", also can't seem to find a policy on how the approvals group works. If you are in that group, then just letting you know you are missing from the page. Obviously you know a thing or two about bots from your good bot work! — xaosflux 02:32, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Cool thanks, like I said its pretty clear you are knowledged in the way of the bot! — xaosflux 13:10, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

AntiVandalBot blocked due to malfuctioning

I hated to do this, but I've blocked AntiVandalBot (talk · contribs) due to malfuctioning. It was reverting edits outside of the article namespace, which it was not supposed to be doing. Several legitimate editors had been warned for testing on the introduction page. Tawkerbot2 also made some reverts outside the main namespace, but I didn't block it since it wasn't making bad reverts unlike AntiVandalBot. After all, we should still have at least one-anti-vandalism bot running. Could you please look into this? Thanks. --Ixfd64 16:32, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your support

Dear Tawker,
Thank you very much for your support on my recent RfA. I am pleased to announce that it passed with a tally of 72/11/1, and I am now an administrator. I'll be taking things slowly at first and getting used to the tools, but please let me know if there are any admin jobs I can do to help you, now or in the future. —Cuiviénen 02:24, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm not altogether crazy

Lest you should think me a complete nutcase (I mean, I may be, but I try to keep that quiet), I should note that the AVB talk page does indeed contain a profession to the effect that the bot is cheering for the United States in the World Cup, so my comment didn't come wholly out of nowhere.  :) Joe 17:10, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your support

Thanks for the support in my recent undeserved permablock. However, there is a way for administrators to remove such blocks by other administrators (since one did it for me), so you as an admin may want to find out how to do it. After all, the way things are going, I may need you to do it for ME in the future! Again, gracias. Steve 22:40, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Please take a look at that

Tawkerbot2 Addition

Just to let you know, it would be helpful if Tawkerbot2 could detect "bot-eluding" vandalism such as the chronic ".F.U.C.K...S.H.I.T...C.U.N.T...P.O.O...A.S.S...B.I.T.C.H.!.!.!.!..." AOL vandal going everywhere; my userpage has already been vandalized several times by him/her/it (vandalbot, maybe?) File:FA-22 Raptor.jpg Thanks for voting!
Hello Tawker, and thank you so much for nominating me in my recent RfA. I am pleased to inform you that it passed with a final tally of (119/1/3), into the WP:100, so I have now been cleared for adminship and will soon be soaring above the clouds. I was overjoyed, shocked, and humbled by the tally, and, most importantly, all the support. Thank you. If there is ever anything you need, you know where you can find me. Take care.

Stanley Cup Finals ITN

Why should we add a subjective opinion about the end result? We didn't do that for SuperBowl scores. We didn't report the number of sets or length of the finals for the recent French Open winners. And the most recent sports item, the US Open golf tourney doesn't include details about Phil Mickelson's double bogey on 18. --Madchester 03:37, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Simple English Channel

Hey Tawker,

Sorry I haven't been around any lately to help out. I have an old message from Archer7 on Simple English asking if the the simple channel has been taken down or if a bot is broken. The message is from June 11 so it may have already been taken care of; if so, please disregard. Hopefully as soon as things slow down for me and I get some Internet issues resolved (cable company can't come until Monday) I will be back in action. See you later. -- Psy guy 17:38, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

User:64.211.1.190 and Douglas Engelbart

User:64.211.1.190, whom you have already warned, continues to insert spam about Gene Roddenberry into Douglas Engelbart. Other users have already removed it at least twice. I see that you have already warned User:64.211.1.190. In my opinion, it's time for a block. Alison Chaiken 14:30, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Are you the web designer from Victoria who was in the news about 3 years back due to a Microsoft trademark dispute? Tawker 20:32, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

No, I am not. I am a student from Prague, and the last time I was in the news was when a photo of me in a demonstration on the 10th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution appeared in "Reflex" (a Czech magazine). - Mike Rosoft 15:10, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Can you have your bot patrol an article?

We've got a user repeatedly adding the same thing from multiple IPs and ignoring attempts to contact them. We've tried sprotection, but it never works. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a bot. I thought perhaps we could fight bots with bots, and have Tawkerbot watch the two pages. The edits are like this and this. You can see on the history page that it has been done dozens of times and reverted as vandalism. They like to replace "ionic air" with "eletrokinetics" in Lifter (ionic propulsion device) and remove references to ionic wind from Biefeld–Brown effect. I think they always paste the same exact text into the articles. — Omegatron 17:47, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

TB2's Warnings

Noticed a problem with the link you (or joshbuddy) added to TB2's warnings. Simple to fix though, you just have to make sure that any spaces in the article name are replaced by underscores or %20's, or else the link won't work. Also, terminal question marks in page titles will make it not work correctly, and ampersands need to be converted to %26. AmiDaniel (talk) 18:28, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

anti-vandalism bots malfunctioning again

The anti-vandalism bots seem to be malfunctioning again. This time, they've stopped warning vandals and are no longer reporting them to Misplaced Pages:Administrator intervention against vandalism/TB2. Note that I didn't block any of the bots this time. Since they weren't really making any harmful edits, I decided that blocking them would be counterproductive. --Ixfd64 03:13, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
