Welcome!

Hello, Ardenn, and welcome to Misplaced Pages! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Hang on, it is /my edits/ being reverted by others. Imacomp has reverted my edit to 3.2 three times so why has he not been banned from editing? BlueValour 18:11, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

OK, to show willing I have acceeded to your judgement and abandoned my 'conduct of meetings' edit. BlueValour 18:27, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Alumni

"You don't have to graduate to be an alumni, according to the definition.". Agreed, although the Alumni Association certainly didn't start bugging me until after I graduated. Actually, the original post was by someone else. I should get into the habit of using {{unsigned}} before adding my own comments. -Dhodges 19:20, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Reference

Ardenn, Under the Embrun page, it has a website for a reference. The part of the website that Misplaced Pages has as a reference has now changed. When I looked at it last, it changed from www.freewebs.com/embrun/history to www.freewebs.com/embrun/thingsonembrun. Loghead1 00:32, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Ardenn, again, regarding the reference. I have contacted the person who takes care of the reference, and they have changed it so that Misplaced Pages doesn't have to change the name of the reference. Thanks, Loghead1 00:26, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: Jaye Davidson

Sorry. AWB Would have had a reason for it. Not sure why it did tho... Why did you move the stub back up there? Reedy Boy

Saryn Hooks

You participated in the Finola Hackett AfD. Please also join the discussion here: Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Saryn Hooks (second nomination). Thank you. - CrazyRussian talk/email 17:28, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Sorry 'bout that.

Sorry for not signing my comments... I normally do sign, it was just a minor brainfart... and then a copy-and-paste of a minor brainfart. --Gpollock 23:03, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Freemasonry

Right now I'm mostly nicking templates and layout from WikiProject Japan since they have a really nice system. After that I think the first thing to do is to try to put everything Freemasonry-related we can find in the assessment categories. OzLawyer 15:23, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

WT:EiC and Canandian colleges & universities

Looked like things were going to heat up there for a while. Thanks for sticking through and continuing to discuss so we could come to a conclusion. While I want to ensure I don't get trapped into suffering from WP:OWN, I also want to make sure the project page stays current, concise, and easy-to-use for both new and old editors and members. Thank you very much for taking on a huge part of the project that so far has obviously been neglected. --Stephane Charette 19:45, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

What?

What are writing about on my talk page? Please write below "Talk here". Imacomp 20:08, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Awesome Drive by Revert!

"Executed by" is the correct term. "Murdered under" is 100% incorrect, we already had this discussion months ago, it's insulting to holocaust victims to say that they were murdered, sure it's an emotionally charged word, but the word does not put accross the scope of what happened. Executions are done by a goverment, murders are done by people. In this case it was a fanatical goverment executing people for what they were, not fanatical people randomly commiting hate crimes. There is no valid counter-argument to this since it's simply what the words mean. The only possible counter-argument is that the word "executed" doesn't convey the emotion that the word "murdered" does, however that's 100% invalid in encyclopedic writing, wikipedia is an encyclopedia, where we are suppossed to write encyclopedic content, misusing words because they will make the reader feel emotional is not allowed. Seraphim 05:17, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

If you can show me where murder is defined as a killing carried out by a goverment through laws that they enacted i'll gladly conceed to you. However killings carried out under laws passed by goverments are executions. It's a simple defination issue. Seraphim 05:20, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
An example of why Freemasonry often gets knee deep in ill informed BS Imacomp 11:43, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the Invite

Thank you for inviting me to Misplaced Pages. Though honestly, I'm not sure how valuable you find my contributions - my interested article as of late, Age of Consent has a guy who constantly reverts and criticizes everything I do, even the integrity of my sources which disagree with his implicitly expressed political views on the talk page. Then he accuses me of having political views. The only political views I have are having all sides of an argument presented, not seeing my edits reverted or criticized with specious reasoning. Oh well, thanks for your support. 69.70.217.195 15:53, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Saskatchewan Party

A few Sask Party partisans are posting obviously POV edits to the page. Could you look it over, and (if possible) revert the current version? CJCurrie 23:47, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. You may want to add this to your watchlist -- the partisans have already reverted the page several times. CJCurrie 00:06, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks again. CJCurrie 00:08, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

I've sent you an e-mail message on this matter. CJCurrie 01:43, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

A few NDP partisans User:CJCurrie, User:Bearcat, and User:Schnits have been repeatedely been reverting (without justification, even after repeated requests on the Talk page for justification), edits, inserting spurious information on the past of politicians completely irrelevant to the article. I can't think of a word to describe it other than vandalism, since they generally refuse even to make even rudimentary efforts to justify their insertion of material.

It is obviously of great concern, especially since Bearcat and Schnits (and probably CJCurrie), being admitted members of the NDP, are carrying on their edits without explicitly declaring their conflict of interest (and exercising due caution on the POV of the material) per the Misplaced Pages:Conflict of interest policy. 64.110.251.69 00:43, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Could you please quit deleting parts of the article which are facts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mknight1971 (talkcontribs)

Just a reminder

Messages such as (yes, I know its a month old but it's worth mentioning) are considered to be in violation of CIVL and would be best to avoid such comments in the future -- Tawker 19:01, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

There is no need to show displeasure, it's obviously not going to change the outcome of the vote and would just strike hostilities between yourself and (IMHO a pretty amazing admin) - why raise tension when no tension needs to be raised? -- Tawker 20:17, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Oh gimmie a break, Buchanan-Hermit has done NOTHING contoversial whatsoever, the only way you're going to de-sysop someone is thru ArbCom and trust me, ArbCom has better things to do than take a case that's obviously not going anywhere -- Tawker 20:29, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Travel Cuts=

Ardenn, I do not believe that I have attacked you personally. Please explain why you believe that I have. The issue that I have raised is whether "non-notability" is a grounds for deletion, not you. Many deletionists do use "non-notability" as if it were an accepted grounds for deletion, so other contributors, like you, seem to believe that it is policy. I have not been able to find anywhere in Misplaced Pages policy that it is. Perhaps you could point out something that I have missed. Ground Zero | t 11:10, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
