Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Capitalism (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection semi-frequent vandalism by anon IPs and likely sockpuppet activity, which may or may not be connected to RJII (talk · contribs), a shared account which has made over 1,182 edits to the article search capitalism before its indefinate ban around a week ago. 172 | Talk 06:17, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

    User:Pseudomonas (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-Protection. Recent repeat (8 since 29 Jun) obscene vandalism by AOL IPs. Pseudomonas 01:22, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Portugal national football team (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-Protection. Both being vandalized heavily by anons. Gimmetrow 20:51, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree, I reverted the page which had been vandalised twice within 5 mins of todays game ending. Can we semi-protect this until the english calm down. Adam777 22:11, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

    Horacio Elizondo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-Protection. This page is being vandalised heavily due to two contraversial (some may say bad) refereeing peformances. Both upset Korean and English fans are vandalising this page. It's an obvious target for vandalism. It will recieve a lot more as England fans come home from the pub. Englishrose 19:06, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

    Template:Blockeduser (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Reducing to semi-protection since this page was fully protected a long time ago. There were not much of vandalism during that time. -- ADNghiem501 17:04, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Iglesia ni Cristo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Requesting "Semi-Protection" for the Iglesia ni Cristo article. An edit war between editors and proxy IP addesses believed to be emico (talk · contribs) in violation of an ArbCom decision. This edit war has also caused Coffeemaker (talk · contribs) to deliberately disrupt the article by replacing the entire article with this edit.

There is not enough recent activity to justify protection at this time. Just watchlist and revert any vandalism. Voice-of-All 22:28, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

    John Cena (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Requesting Semi-Protection for the John Cena article. Nearly daily it has to be reverted from people adding nonsense here and there, mostly anon users. Protecting it for a few days should at least halt them.

Let's see how semi protection works out. --LBMixPro 21:25, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

    PlayStation 3 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Requesting semi-protection. Semi-protection was lifted about a day ago - and - vandalism and mindless edits that need to be reverted start again with a vengance - The previous edit 'block' helped a lot:
15th June - 27th June (12 days) approx. 60-70 edits (partial lock) 3rd June - 15 June (12 days) approx 440 edits (no partial lock)

Please add semiprotection again to this article to give the numerous, non-vandalising editors chance to do something without constant harrasment.HappyVR 13:30, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

    Srimad Bhagavatam (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection from political, commercial vandalism with false claim of ownership and copyright. Several alternative links to relevant sites have been deleted by O Govinda user. — rpba

That's a redirect with two edits to it. I assume you mean the thing it redirects to? --Lord Deskana 10:36, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

California State Normal School (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Request Semi-protection due to continued vandalism/deleting of this page. Other of my contributions have been repeatedly vandalized by user NeoChaosX (talk · contribs · count), who may also been responsible for this vandalism. This is an important article about a significant part of California educational history. Michaelch7 02:07, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

    • Okay, what? First, semi won't work as NeoChaosX is an established user. NoeChaoX has only redirected it one time, not "repeatedly" as you have stated. He has also backed off - after you resorted the contents, he has not redirected it since. So I don't quite understand your claims of "continued vandalism/deleting" of the page. I also see the complaints regarding the California State University page. NeoChaosX removed the links because he put them in the GoState article where they are more relevent. Discuss it with the user - please don't use page protection as a first resort. Hbdragon88 07:42, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

    INTEC UiTM (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Requesting full protection. This article is about our college where we are studying, and users are beginning to make innecessary edits with disruptive, as well as provocative summaries.--KaitoThief 21:51, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

    User talk:Ipclog (edit | user page | history | links | watch | logs)

    Wii (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi potection please due to numerous minor (non necessarily vandalising) ill thought out edits that need reverting and constant attempts to add blog/new fan site to external links. A lot of these (est. >75%) are by unregistered users. Would certainly make life easier for regular editors. (lot of this happens in the evening)HappyVR 22:13, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

I'll protect it. Nothing real major but a few days won't hurt. --Woohookitty 11:15, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Goguryeo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

The History of China column should be removed from the Goguryeo article. There is no Goguryeo in the History of China column. It shouldn't be there.

    Freemasonry (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

There is no reason to have it protected other than to perpetuate the control of the content by a small group of biased masonic editors.Wawanesa 12:18, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

    Kouta Hirano (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

There's no reason to have it protected as no moving has been going on for a while. Most of the people discussing it (like me, for instance) don't really care which title it's at. Only Bakemono has a strong opinion on the matter, and it's already at the title he wants. ···日本穣 22:51, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Pope Benedict XVI (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    User talk:141.154.236.87 (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I don't get it. Their test messages worked and they block me and my talk page for several days. This is crazy.

    • First of all, please sign your remarks with ~~~~. Second of all, you do not own your user page; in this case, the fact that you vandalized and were warned about it should remain for a time until you can prove you're more than a guy who adds "penis" randomly to articles. --Golbez 21:53, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
      • What happened was someone left some kind of "test" message on my talk page. Odd, so I removed it. Then several other "test" messages popped up, I can't remove them from my talk page and I can't edit. I think Misplaced Pages has been hacked.
      • We need to rectify this today.

    history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Several users are asking to add (formerly Calcutta) to the text at the beginning of this article on the main page, to match the page itself, and make this clearer to everyone. These requests are apparently unheard by any administrators. Nfitz Golbez 21:56, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Atkins Nutritional Approach (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

The article was protected because of a heated edit war. It seems that things have cooled down now. Han-Kwang 11:57, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Eon8 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Requesting semi-protection; the page is being subjected to repeated vandalisms, such as the insertion of profanities, alteration of headings, or alterations of URLs by several IPs, and employed as a rumor mill, rather than serving as an accurate article. Velessar 18:25, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

I was about to list this too. Needs a temporary semi-protection, when the timer on the website runs out the website (eon8.com) 100's of people will come to edit the article on the scenario. There's enough wikipedians already editing the article to update it when the time comes.--Andeh 21:19, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
I'd say full protect would be better, that way once the time runs out, something is "purported" to happen that gives WP:V and notablility for the article so its not deleted under AfD. So full-protect. Zos 21:53, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Seeing the behavior a few hours before the countdown is over, I have to say I agree. It would probably be better to grant it full protection in order to prevent the onslaught of people eager to to tell their own personal account about the matter on Misplaced Pages. So, I agree with the full protect Velessar 00:30, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Semi-Protection. This page is being vandalised in exactly the same manner once a day, against consensus, as per the talkpage. The vandal is using numberous AOL addresses, but is almost certainly exactly the same person, see here for evidence of repeated vandalism (19 so far) and evidence for a single user - this person cannot be easily blocked because they are using AOL addresses, but at least forcing them to start an account will mean they can be dealt with. Kouta Hirano (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Move Protection request for the Kouta Hirano article. Currently an 'edit war' has been incited over the Romanized name of the mangaka/author, Kouta Hirano (this is the legally correct spelling of his name, btw) and the article is continuously being arbitrarily and inappropriately moved back to the 'Kohta Hirano' page by a lone user who simply refuses to accept facts and cited, visual evidence against their position — even when the consensus view is on the side of Kouta Hirano. This is getting out of hand.
