Jonathan "Jock" James (born January 4th, 1978 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England) is the youth pastor of the Abundant Life Church in Bradford. He is also the head of its youth band, RPM, in which he leads vocals and plays acoustic guitar. He also writes songs for the youth band RPM and the wider church worship team.

History

James converted to Christianity at the age of 17. He later moved to Bradford to go to university; here, he began to attend the Abundant Life Church. After graduation, he worked in the water industry before joining the church as a youth pastor in 2002. He has spoken in the past of sitting in his office doing some menial task while dreaming of doing the job he now does. He has since been involved in leading the Edge ministry for 14 to 18 year olds and heading up the music department at RockNations, the church's youth ministry.

Songs written or co-written by James include:

  • "Put Your Hands Up", RPM's signature tune
  • "Whatever The Cost", the theme for the church's Stronger 2005 conference
  • "Live God Loud", the theme for the church's Stronger 2006 conference
