Paris is among the cities hosting the most skyscrapers in Europe: as of 2006 there are twelve skyscrapers with roof height above 150 meters (492 feet) and two more under construction (compared to 9 such skyscrapers in London, 9 in Frankfurt, 6 in Moscow, and 6 in Istanbul). Most of Paris high-rise buildings are located in three distinct areas: La Défense, the 13th arrondissement, and the Front de Seine (in the 15th arrondissement).

La Défense, the largest business district in Europe, is located west of the city proper, in the heart of the Hauts-de-Seine département. Unlike the other high-rise areas, La Défense is dominated mostly by office buildings. The 13th arrondissement towers are mostly residential, located in the south of the arrondissement, in what is today Chinatown. Most of the buildings of the Front de Seine, which is in close proximity to the Eiffel Tower, were built in the 1970s and 1980s and are of mixed commercial and residential use.

Other high-rise buildings are scattered throughout the Paris metropolitan area, mainly near the Périphérique freeway. These include Les Mercuriales in Bagnolet, the Tour Pleyel in Saint-Denis, or the Hôtel Concorde Lafayette in the city proper (near the Porte Maillot). The tallest skyscraper of Paris, the Tour Montparnasse, stands alone in the Montparnasse area.

Future structures

Tour Granite, currently under construction.

This is a list of structures that are either under construction or due to start construction soon. A minimum of 6 other skyscrapers from 200 m (650 ft) to more than 400 m (1,300 ft) have been announced in La Défense and are due to be completed by 2015 at the latest, but their specifications are not known yet. Another 200 m tower designed by Jean Nouvel which is not part of that scheme has also been proposed nearby La Défense.

Very recently, two additional towers of 180 m have been announced in the Val de Seine business district located in Issy-les-Moulineaux, and two others of 160 m have been proposed in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Structures are sorted by planned height.
