Articles for deletion nomination of Ugg Australia
I have nominated Ugg Australia, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Ugg Australia. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hi Pengo, Just an idea, but why don't you co-licence this image under GPL? I know that this image is not "free software" per se. The main idea behind it is just that you can publish the whole image under one licence (GPL) and not two...

- Done. Not sure I follow your logic entirely, but I've dual licensed with GPL and GFDL now. —Pengo 23:50, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Ecotone (magazine)
The article Ecotone (magazine) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- unreferenced journal article with no clear indication of notability
While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Dialectric (talk) 09:03, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
File:AgathisRobusta01MelbourneBotanicGardens.jpg needs authorship information.
Dear uploader:The media file you uploaded as File:AgathisRobusta01MelbourneBotanicGardens.jpg is missing information as to its authorship, or if such information is provided it is confusing.

Orphaned non-free image File:Edius logo.png
Thanks for uploading File:Edius logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:14, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Misplaced Pages:Contributing your own images
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Thank you for experimenting with Misplaced Pages. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mhiji 21:49, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Brown mountain
Hi Pengo,
Just looking at your lovely photos of Brown Mountain forest. I'm actually wanting to take some people out there next week. You mention you took photos on the Goongerah Old Growth Forest Walk. Just wondering if you have GPS coordinates for that or simple directions for how to get there, and whether access is suitable for a 2WD car. Also wondering whether you know anything about access to Goolengook. Cheers, --jjron (talk) 12:08, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. --jjron (talk) 10:52, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. Went and saw Jill on Thursday before doing the walk and she gave me the low-down. The 'track' was a bit rough and we lost it at one stage, but eventually got back on it. It doesn't go down to the river/creek anymore, though it was within earshot; apparently a biologist had warned the walkers could impact on the frogs down there, so they took that bit out. It was an interesting walk overall, but we had to rush a bit as it was getting late and didn't want to try to find our way out in the dark (so that meant limited time for photos). Jill said she didn't think we'd get to Goolengook, suspected the bridge was out, but hadn't actually tried herself for a long time; we wouldn't have had time anyway. --jjron (talk) 15:43, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

MSU Interview
Dear Pengo,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Misplaced Pages administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

'Needs washed' as copula omission
Hello, Pengo. You recently edited Copula (linguistics) in a way that suggests "The car needs washed" is a copula omission. I'm not aware of any published analysis that calls such constructions copula omission, though they may well exist. It's also possible, though, to analyze this construction in a way that does not imply copula deletion, e.g. as a variant of "The car needs washing." If you know of any sources that are on-point, could you add them to the article? Thanks, and happy editing. Cnilep (talk) 02:49, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Simia maxima
Hi Peter,
I noticed that, back in 2006, you created the Simia maxima redirect to King Kong. Was this a joke, or is King Kong ever actually referred to by a scientific name in the relevant films or other media? The term doesn't appear on the article, and I have been unsuccessful in tracking down references to the term. Unless we can source it, I would recommend deleting it; I can't imagine anyone using it as a search term unless it appears in the media somewhere.
Neelix (talk) 02:10, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Neelix. Good question. It wasn't something I made up, but I don't remember where it was from. I suspect I got the name from somewhere in Peter Jackson's 2005 King Kong film, but I really don't remember and can't give a more precise answer than that, sorry. —Pengo 04:46, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me, Peter. Considering that we don't have a source for the name, I have proposed the redirect for deletion. Please feel free to leave your thoughts at the discussion here. Neelix (talk) 16:23, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
Gamergate controversy
Do not change the lead paragraph again without a consensus for your proposed changes on the article's talk page. NorthBySouthBaranof asked for you to do this but you rewrote it practically identically anyway.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 04:32, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Do not restore your version of the lead paragraph without a proper discussion on the article's talk page.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 04:54, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- User:Ryulong, you have no authority to request this. Not all edits require discussion on the talk page. If you have specific problems then state them, edit my edits to improve them, or start something on the talk page.
- I was not trying to minimize the accusations of sexism, harassment and misogyny, nor trying to push some gamergate agenda. The opening paragraph was simply terribly vague and unhelpful to readers. I believed I'd put the accusations still clearly in the opening paragraph, but it is difficult to state both sides at the same time. It's conventional to put what the proponents believe before stating the counter.
- For the record, whatever just happened to the opening paragraph ("In video game culture, Gamergate is an online movement which emerged around false allegations of unethical conduct levied against indie game developer Zoe Quinn in August 2014...") now reads much better than what was there before I edited, albeit showing extreme bias. —Pengo 05:05, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- When your edits are contested, you begin a discussion on them to gain consensus. That is how Misplaced Pages works, period.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:06, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- No reason was given for the revert, so there was no contest. —Pengo 05:13, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- This is unimportant. You were asked to bring it up on the talk page. You didn't.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:16, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- No reason was given for the revert, so there was no contest. —Pengo 05:13, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- When your edits are contested, you begin a discussion on them to gain consensus. That is how Misplaced Pages works, period.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:06, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Do not modify the lead paragraph again to put the assertion that it's actually about ethics in journalism before everything else because reliable sources do not give that the weight you are asserting it must have.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:34, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- I never put such an assertion into the lead paragraph. —Pengo 05:38, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- You keep adding the same sentence into the lead paragraph when you have explicitly been asked to go to the talk page to discuss it.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:40, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
