Edits

Unfortunately I don't currently have a copy of the DSM-V at hand, so I can't do this myself, but this page needs to be updated to reflect the DSM-V changes to eating disorder criteria. Ex: the part about having to have menstrual disruption for it to qualify as anorexia- it needs to be indicated that that is now outdated. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.118.32.224 (talk) 16:04, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

Gods... someone edited this article and added a whole ton of really badly-written things, making it a complete MESS! I have edited some of the sections to clean them up (and deleted one that was really irrelevant) but it's going to take quite awhile to fix this article fully. -Sighs heavily- Melange fiesta (talk) 22:51, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

I removed one external link, sponsored by a "for profit" treatment company. I replaced it with the NAMI link, which offers a comprehensive overview. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spotlydia (talkcontribs) 20:02, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

I have cleaned up the wording of the Characteristics section of this page. I have also added the DSM-IV criteria and one external link to the Something Fishy section on EDNOS. I would like to add more to the page, but I'm not entirely sure what else I can add. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to contribute.

Hi Melange fiesta, thanks for your contributions. Having to get permission or let people know before editing an article goes against the idea of Misplaced Pages though. No one owns any article and like it say below the edit box: "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it.". Icey 16:31, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
Hey. I will change that... sorry. :| (Does it show that I'm new?) Melange fiesta 16:45, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
No, it shows there's so many policies and guidelines that it's impossible to learn them all :) Icey 16:47, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

I added the Pale Reflections and *Not Otherwise Specifed* Links. I feel the latter, is a much better explanation of EDNOS, seeing as how the person suffers, therefor knowing more about this subject that one can find in any textbook/medical journal. I have added a link to the national eating disorder charity beat, i would also suggest a summary of this page is added to the main eating disorder page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.164.233.90 (talk) 08:51, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

DSM Criteria

Someone decided to take liberties with the DSM criteria and add "or overweight" to the end of criterion #2, and something about "overweight body type" to criterion #4, so I have changed both of them back to what they are supposed to be. If it's not actually in the DSM, it doesn't belong here!! Melange fiesta 15:08, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Have once again had to take out a line that didn't belong to the DSM. Starving oneself without substantial weight loss would probably fall under criterion two anyway; it does NOT need its own separate (misspelled) line. Melange fiesta (talk) 13:03, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Copyright problems with diagnostic criteria

The American Psychiatric Association has not released its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders into public domain, but claims copyright. The Wikimedia Foundation has received a letter of complaint (Ticket:2010030910040817, for those with access) about the use of their diagnostic criteria in this and a number of other articles. Currently, this content is blanked pending investigation, which will last approximately one week. Please feel free to provide input at the copyright problems board listing during that time. Individuals with access to the books would be particularly welcome in helping to conduct the investigation. Assistance developing a plan to prevent misuse of the APA's material on Misplaced Pages projects would also be welcome. Thank you. Moonriddengirl 14:08, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Unsourced information

A long addition of unsourced information was recently added to this article Nutrition.and.Health please read Bold Revert Discuss. Your initial edit was bold, after it was reverted this should have been brought to the talk page. CUNY citations

Will the CUNY students please stop adding citations to the CUNY library database? Those are not valid citations for Misplaced Pages, where most readers and editors are not CUNY students.

That link goes to a login page that is invalid for most readers and editors.

Also, please review WP:MEDRS on the sourcing of medical content on Misplaced Pages. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 22:48, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
