Subgroup of Slavic languages, currently spoken in Eastern Europe.

Current East Slavic languages: Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian and others.

Great Russian chauvinists would claim that only one Eastern Slavic language (Russian) exists, and that Ukrainian and Belarusian comprise mere dialects of it. Certainly link dialects provide a continuum of mutual understanding throughout the area of these languages.
