In the developmental and psychological sciences, purpose has been defined as "a stable and generalized intention to accomplish something that is at once meaningful to the self and of consequence to the world beyond the self" (William Damon, The Path to Purpose). For its social entrepreneurship Work on Purpose program, Echoing Green adds "in service of making the world a better place," and offers an abbreviated definition: "Right for you, Good for the World."
