Gabrielle Giffords is a Democratic politician and businesswoman from Tucson, Arizona. As of 2006, she is running for Arizona's 8th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. The seat is currently held by Republican Jim Kolbe, who is retiring from the U.S. Congress.

Giffords is a member of the Democratic Leadership Council. Some of her achievements include being a Fulbright Scholar, the youngest woman elected to the Arizona Senate, and a fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy school.

Giffords dates astronaut Mark E. Kelly, the pilot for space shuttle mission STS-121.
