Marcus Garvey (August 17 1887 - June 10 1940) lead a movement calling for people of African decent to move to Africa, and for the European colonial powers to leave Africa. He proclaimed himself Emperor of Africa. He lived for years in New York City, and then in London.

Garvey was born in St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica.
