The Battle of Bint Jbail started on July 25 2006, when Israeli Defense Forces tried to take the town it regarded as a "Hezbollah stronghold", or "terror capital".
IDF sources reported heavy gun battles between soldiers from the Golani Brigade and Hezbollah guerrillas, and said that some of the shooting was taking place at point-blank range, in homes, and in courtyards.
Hezbollah and various news sources have also reported that the Israeli Defence Forces sustained heavy casualties, of up to 14 fatalities and an unknown number of wounded.
