Important Nomination Checklist

Before nominating an article, it must meet all of the featured article criteria. If any one of the following is not met, the article cannot be promoted to Featured status, so it is important that you check each item thoroughly before proceeding:

  • The writing must be engaging and of a professional standard.
  • The article must be representative of the relevant literature on its subject.
  • All claims must be cited to high-quality, reliable sources, with consistently formatted inline citations using one of the approved methods.
  • The article must be neutral, stable and follow the style guidelines.
  • The lead must adequately summarize an appropriately structured article body.
  • All images must be adequately tagged and sourced, and follow the image use policy and, where applicable, the non-free content criteria for inclusion.

To avoid disappointment, please consider carefully whether your article genuinely meets these standards. Editors are more likely to review a fully-prepared nomination than one which still requires considerable work. If you are unsure that the article meets these standards, then Peer Review may be a more appropriate venue. Please note that FAC coordinators can remove an obviously unprepared nomination at their discretion if at least one reviewer has suggested it be withdrawn.
