Channel 9 was a Malaysian commercial free-to-air terrestrial television station. It officially began broadcasting nationwide on Monday, 8 September 2003 at 12:00 MST and was operated by STMB, a member of Media Prima and subsidiary of NTSP. It closed down on Thursday, 3 February 2005 at 00:00 MST due to company debts after having already changed hands within those two years. Channel 9's programming is similar to that of TV3, NTV7 and 8TV.
Channel 9 is a sister channel of TV3, NTV7 and 8TV and currently shares facilities with Media Prima at its headquarters at Shah Alam (state capital of Selangor Darul Ehsan).
Channel 9 currently transmits via UHF (Ultra High Frequency) through six transmission stations located in Peninsular Malaysia Kuala Lumpur (Channel 33), Johor Bahru (Channel 44), Shah Alam (Channel 42), George Town (Channel 48), Mallaca (Channel 37) and Genting Highlands (Channel 6) while of available over the Astro a digital satellite-based direct broadcast satellite platform on Channel 109.
The channel targets Malay and Indonesian-speaking viewers, though English, Chinese, Teochew, Cantonese, Taiwanese language, Japanese and Tamil are also shown on this channel as well.
Channel 9 had a 12-hour transmission schedule, broadcasting daily from 12:00 until 00:00 MST.

History
Channel 9 was launched on Monday, 8 September 2003 at 12:00 MST with the national anthem, station ident & first programmes by the 6-major cities in Peninsular Malaysia such: Kuala Lumpur (UHF 33), Johor Bahru (UHF 44), Shah Alam (UHF 42), George Town (UHF 48), Malacca Town (UHF 37) & Genting Highlands (UHF 6) with television transmitter of tower at Menara TV3 form complex of Bukit Sungai Besi raised as high at 20-kilowatt form obtaned form antenna by 200-metre on 567.250-megahertz with programming similar to that of TV3 was line-up consisted of programmes in English, Chinese, Teochew, Cantonese, Taiwanese language, Japanese & Tamil programmes featuring by variety & entertainment channel. It also featured of infomercial & shopping channel by the TV Innovations is a television advertising programme.
In the early stages, daily broadcasting hours were from 12:00 until 00:00 MST and the 12-hours of broadcasting ended with a closing transmission that indicated the final broadcast at 00:00 MST.
Channel 9 increased broadcast hours when it started showing dramas, popular shows, situation comedies, game shows, movie premieres, news, variety shows and music video programmes.
It will carry its Malay flagship daily evening news bulletin programmes called "Seputar Malaysia" (Around Malaysia) at 20:00 until 20:30 MST in daily on Channel 9's primetime news bulletin programmes it was news readers and news anchors includes: Tuti Rahayu Sinuhaji, Sherin Nindita Putri, Djenar Maesa Ayu, Paula Hancocks, Tim Sebastian, Chris Hollins, Maria Kristin Yulianti, Dedeh Erawati, Rini Budianti, Serafi Anelis Unani, Doctor Ambar, Jonathan Charles, Zeinab Badawi, Mishal Husain, Andromeda Amanda, Ventin Oktavi & Kenan Judge.
Channel 9 was officially longer for live coverage of football matches by the American Major League Soccer.
Channel 9 will also air a Malay programmes called "Putrajaya" at 20:30 until 22:00 MST, Tamil programmes called "Kollywood" at 12:00 until 14:00 MST, English programmes called "Western Country" at 14:00 until 16:00 MST, Japanese programmes called "Tokyo" at 16:00 until 17:00 MST & Chinese programmes called "Kungfu" at 17:00 until 20:00 MST.
Channel 9 was movie premiere blockbuster mostly in English (as "Hollywood" on Friday), Chinese (as "Chinese Movies" on Monday) & Tamil (as "Kollywood" on Thursday) called "Movies" on every weekday at 22:00 until 00:00 MST.
Channel 9 to catering to the official languages with due to its menu of primarily imported programmes from the United States of America, Hong Kong, Japan & India with light entertainment programmes in all in one of official languages such: Malay, English, Chinese & Tamil.
Privatisation
The station along with its sister stations TV3, NTV7 & 8TV a member of STMB, part of NTSP and owner by MPB.
