Crossing out the EU flag

Hello, you left this message on my user page:

you are not upholding wikipedia policy, you are a common vandal. i realize that you are very offended by people opposing the EU. But what i can't understand is why you think that someone crossing out an EU flag on their page is obscene. this is in no way an insult to the people of europe, it is simply a statement against the organization. i heavily doubt that anyone is at all offended by it other than you, and crossing out the us flag honestly does not bother me, even though i would actually have some vague reason for it, as the US flag represents a people, not an organization. for the love of God, leave us all alone. you will not change anything. -Joeyramoney 17:12, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Someone answered to it:

I'm offended by people mangling the European flag. A flag is a flag, you can't claim that the EU one is less important because it "represents an organisation, not a people". It represents the people of Europe. If you think it wrong for someone to deface the American flag, then it is equally wrong to deface the European flag. Rusty2005 13:51, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
no, it really doesn't represent anyone. most europeans would not give the slightest shit about that flag. just take my word for it. Joeyramoney 23:41, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to respond and thank you for choosing to represent your opinion now without crossing out the EU flag. I am not "very offended" by people opposing the EU, I just think that more respect would be nice. I would never cross out a flag because I know people get offended by these things and I think there are many easy ways to express legitimate concerns avoiding unnecessary bad feelings. I am concerned about some aspects of the EU as well, e.g. the agricultural subsidies and the antidumping cases the EU and US use to disrupt the message of free trade they are proclaiming themselves. I however acknowledge that the EU has enormous achievements in allowing a continent to prosper that was previously very diverse in economic development and civil liberties. I already did change something as several users saw my point and chose not to use the crossed out flag any longer. Have a good time here. ROGNNTUDJUU! 23:28, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

um, no, it's still crossed. you are the only one bothered. no one is represented by this flag. I'll cross flags as i like. you are annoying. kthnxbye.-Joeyramoney 23:37, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

What specifically is your opposition RE the European Union? id be interested to read your views. thanks eski Boi 17 year old UK

hey daniel, i'm three times your age and i think you're cool.

somehow stumbled upon your page via User:Karmafist, who now appears to be singing the tune of a reformed abusive ex-admin. i don't trust him, but he cited bad treatment of you as a case study. (i was once the victim of Karmafist.) there are some good personalities here and some bad (at least one has visted your usertalk page, but i'll leave him unnamed). i like your politics/philosophy as depicted by your userboxes. live long and prosper. Image Tagging Image:13-playtime-big.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:13-playtime-big.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 19:22, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Why remove CE from Aisha?

Do you disapprove of the use of CE? You didn't give a reason. Zora 22:22, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

i hate "CE" and there was no real reason for it. it's well established throughout the article what time period this is.

It doesn't matter that you hate it, not everyone in the world is Christian. --Khoikhoi 23:55, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
you know exactly when muhammed lived, and so does pretty much evryone else. you don't have to tell people that the pilgrims landed in 1620 AD, it's implied if there's no suffix. anyway, isn't it more politically correct not to have anything at all? i'm sure that "CE" really annoys a lot of people. be more sensitive. Joeyramoney 23:58, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Old conversation, but I thought I should weigh in here to clear up some misconceptions; for one, the Manual of Style disagrees with you. Conventions like British vs. American English and CE vs. AD should be based on the original editor's style to avoid revert wars of people converting to the format of their preference. The only exception is in articles for which one style should obviously be preferred (such as United Kingdom or Christianity), where the preferred style should always be used no matter what style was used by the original editor. —Cuiviénen (talkcontribs), Saturday, 13 May 2006 @ 01:53 UTC
amazing how politically correct has become a slur. --Jewish Mayflower descendant 00:30, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Re:sunsetwithfunnelclouds.jpg

Hi Joeyramoney,
I didn't actually mean to call them "funnel clouds" in the scientific sense (I didn't know it even existed) it was just my description of the way the clouds looked to me. --Fir0002 www 08:56, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Reporting vandalism

I saw that you complained that no one was blocking an anonymous IP which kept vandalizing Platteville, Wisconsin. This is most likely due to the fact that the vandalism was getting automatically reverted by a bot, no administrator noticed it, and no one mentioned it to an admin. If you notice something like this happenening, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or, even better, post it onWP:AIV. (Oh, and I've blocked the guy for a week now.) Cheers --BaronLarf 16:29, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Don't do this. Everything in Misplaced Pages needs to follow our Misplaced Pages:Verifiability policy. Thanks for understanding. Jkelly 20:04, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

they seemed really unnecesary, as any brief glance at the lyrics rather explicitly illustrates the theme. it's not just one interpretation. same for the second quote, i realize that most wikipedians think that every single word of sentence must have a link, but it really just is quite evidently a delicate ballad, and is obviously pretty enduring if it has a paragraph on it, which is far more than most ramones songs ever get on here. if your case of wiki-paranoia is so insatiable as to warrant me, somneone who knows far more about this than you, to find a website that reflects the exact wording used in the article, fine. go bother someone else in the future. License tagging for Image:Ugggggntitled-1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ugggggntitled-1.jpg. Misplaced Pages gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Misplaced Pages, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. 03:06, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Esquire not first mass produced solidbody electric guitar

Are you saying that the Esquire should hold the distinction of being the first mass produced solidbody electric guitar? My sources say that the pre-Broadcaster/Telecaster Esquires were not produced in significant numbers--perhaps about 50. They didn't really get into mass production until the introduction of the 2-pickup Broadcaster (with the truss rod). Rohirok 23:51, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

excuse me? i removed the blurb about a list of recordings because no such list exists. sorry if i should have discussed this first (although no one has added anything to that heading in the several months that it has been there), but that was not vandalism. Joeyramoney 19:01, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for the guidance on the Guitar World's 100 greatest guitar solos article, but could you clarify what was wrong with the wording? I don't see anything wrong with my phrasing. Daniel Olsen 03:06, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Idiotic question

At the risk of catching hell from the WP:NPA police, your question at Talk:Abortion was moronic. You'd be better off researching that kind of thing on your own before asking such an ignorant question. If it weren't for your age, you'd come off as some kind of racist troll instaed of a plain old idiot. --Elliskev 23:06, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Cross posted to User talk:Elliskev.
I concur that his comment on Talk:Abortion was a little bit too sensitive, and not necessarily the most productive way to handle that situation. That said, your post above is most assuredly a personal attack, and you are now being warned to cease and desist. I am especially not impressed that you posted this far more serious assault on Joey's user talk page, where it would presumably attract less attention than on the article talk page. I see from your talk page you have been warned before; take this one to heart and try to be more civil in your dealings with others. And one final note; age is completely irrelevent. One of the admins I most respect is 16 (15 when he made admin) and one of the trolls I block on sight is over 50. Maturity, not age, is the focus. KillerChihuahua 11:30, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Joeyramoney, please accept my apologies for my uncivil comments. Calling another editor an idiot is not constructive. It's not nice. --Elliskev 13:56, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

This post is completely unacceptable. Refrain from personally attacking others. "absolute douchebag" is beyond the threshold of tolerance, and I seriously considered blocking you immediately for that. This is your one heads-up: if you want to engage in exchanging insults and flame wars, Misplaced Pages is NOT the place. Find somewhere else. KillerChihuahua 11:35, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

you read his response to me and what he has said to others. i'm sorry if that was out of line, but i'm not the problem here. Joeyramoney 16:16, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
When I post to him, I'll talk about what he did. I'm posting to you, and I'm talking about what you did. Is this somehow unclear? You are responsible for your posts. I don't care if he called you every name in the book, deleted your posts, and forged your signature. (If he did those things, report him of course.) Do not make personal attacks regardlss of what the target of your personal attacks may or may not have done. Two wrongs do not make it ok; they make you both in the wrong. Ramones

You wrote, "why did you remove the image from this article without explanation? i don't see how it doesn't belong. Joeyramoney 05:42, 1 August 2006 (UTC)"

Hi. The fair-use rationale for that particular cover states that it can only be used to signify the album in question. So it's fine for the Ramones (album) article, but not okay for the Ramones (group) article. =] Feel free to find another, fair-use, promotional, or free-use image for the article, and I'll gladly assist you with adding it to the page. --DieHard2k5 | Talk 15:46, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
