T'pau was an English rock group of the late 1980s. They had a string of top 30 hits in the UK, and several hits in the United States and Europe.

The band took their name from a character from Star Trek. The band was formed in 1986 by the lead singer/songwriter Carol Decker, and Ron Rodgers.

Their first hit was the (1986) single "Heart and soul", which reached No. 4 in both the UK and US charts. This was follwed by their biggest hit, the 1987 ballad "China in your hand", which spent five weeks at number one in the UK charts.

They had a number of smaller hits, including the singles "Valentine" "Intimate strangers", "Monkey House" and "Secret Garden".

Their 1987 album Bridge of Spies won the best album and single award at the 1988 British record industry awards, and was a best seller.
