- American Broadcasting Companies (1944) (radio network; entered into TV in 1948) - originally the NBC Blue Network before becoming just the Blue Network; sold by NBC to Edward John Noble in 1943, who re-named it the American Broadcasting System; within a year was renamed to American Broadcasting Companies; entered the television business in 1948 with the launch of the ABC television network; merged with United Paramount Theaters in 1949, becoming American Broadcasting-Paramount Theatres; reverted back to American Broadcasting Companies in 1965; & finally became ABC Television in 1986, while also merging with Capital Cities Communications to become Capital Cities/ABC (a.k.a. CapCities/ABC); was dissolved in 1989, resulting in its operations being transferred to:
- American Broadcasting Companies (1986) (TV network) - formed by CapCities/ABC at same time prior American Broadcasting Companies became ABC Television; gained the operations of the ABC TV network after ABC Television was dissolved
