License tagging for Image:Acivillistpension.pdf
Thanks for uploading Image:Acivillistpension.pdf. Misplaced Pages gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Misplaced Pages, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. 11:05, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Vandalism by Cult Member
As far as I can tell, you do not seem to have any scientific expertise. May I suggest that instead of pedalling half-truths (such as the claimed graduate course of Evans at the University of Glamorgan), you keep to facts that are verifiable? It is nonsense to suggest that a student is proposing two topics for a Ph.D. in physics at the University of Glamorgan, when the "university" does not even give undergraduate courses of any decription in this subject nor have any professed experts. At British Universities, Ph.D.'s are never conducted in this way. (I had 3 Ph.D. sudents at the University of Cambridge, one jointly between mathematics and theoretical physics.) If you continue to vandalise this wikipedia page, I think you are likely to be reported. Because you have admitted that you are not a disinterested party, I have reverted the page to its state prior to your interventins, with the addition of the corrected form of the two Civil List documents. --Mathsci 20:07, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Attempts to Censor Misplaced Pages Editors
I presume you read the public messages posted by Myron Evans. Here he writes to the First Minister of Wales asking for my dismissal (from a post that I do not hold) and explaining that he is attempting to crack my ip number (my ISP has been alerted). Could you please confirm that you knew nothing about this mail? Did you alert Evans to my comments on your talk page? Is his response below what you so primly refer to as gentlemanly behaviour?
"To First Minister: I think that it should be strongly emphasized to this character in the University of Cambridge that he is entirely and utterly out of order. We will try to trace his identity and have him severely disciplined, preferably dismissed. I do not think that string theory should be funded in any University in Wales. The way that these censors are acting is a gross insult to Wales, they may even have tried to censor my Univeristy of Wales degree certificates and they should be pulled up in short order. The whole of the University of Cambridge cannot be judged by these characters alone, but it must be emphasized to the EPSRC and to staff in English Universities that they no longer have control over Welsh or Scottish educational matters. I advocate transfer of science funding from EPSRC to the Assembly. I urge you to personally appoint me as Chief Scientific Advisor and not to leave it to the bureaucrats. I strongly suggest the appointment of Gareth Evans and Gari Owen as members of the science advisory unit. Effectively what they are trying to do is to stop even teh most distinguished sceintists in neighbouring small countries from thinking, and this is utterly intolerable. We know that one of them is Lakhtakia, a disseminator of gutter abuse and a habitual liar. We will try to identify the other through his computer number at Misplaced Pages. To describe the work of the Civil List Scientist as a "cult" is a mindless personal insult, and in gross contempt of Parliament, which voted in my appointment. My work is fully accepted worldwide as genuine science, as you know from the information sent to you over the past three years. What I need is support from the Welsh Assembly and Parliament in dealing effectively with these censors an abusers. They are the pseudo-scientists and cult artists. Civil List Scientist "

I honoured your request not continue the debate. I will answer this one and then consider our debate closed once more, as you wish.
I have pointed Evans to your talk page. I have, of course, seen the email, it was a public one after all. You can alert your ISP if you want but "attempting to crack an ip number" is certainly not illegal. One does not "crack" an IP address, it is information readily available due to the nature of the TCP/IP protocols. Your ISP will confirm this.
Sometimes the IP address is available on the Misplaced Pages History pages. This is public information. This is what Evans was referring to. Otherwise, there is no chance of us tracing you. Your ISP will confirm this. Hacking is a serious criminal offense these days, a fact well-publicised in the media e.g. Gary McKinnon. Evans does not have the technical skill to do this and I will certainly not engage in such illegal activities. And while I work in the IT field, I certainly do not have that skill as it is not my area.My area is programming, system administration and a Oracle DBA work. I have a successful career and do not wish to ruin it. Only Misplaced Pages can give out your IP address. And your ISP will confirm this too. And anyway, IP addresses can change frequently. Even if Misplaced Pages gave it out, it would be useless information as your ISP would probably not cooperate anyway. And your ISP will also confirm this. Evans knows this as well as he was advised by an ISP owner a short while ago. So don't worry, your identity is quite safe from us - unless you make a mistake.
Regarding gentlemanly behaviour, since he is addressing this to the First Minister, I am going to assume that he is being respectful, despite being clearly not happy about your- and TheScienceGuy's wikipedia contributions. As far as I can tell, the First Minister's staff have not asked Evans to stop contacting them. If he refused they could certainly deal with him very easily. He now knows that you are no longer at Cambridge. There is a subsequent public email confirming this.
Again, I will honour your request not to continue the debate. As it appears that I may not edit the wikipedia pages anymore, I will most likely retire my username and trust that I will never hear from you again.
