Prophet's Day (Template:Lang-bn, Template:Lang-ar, Template:Lang-ur and Template:Lang-fa) is an Islamic religious ceremony observed on the 29th of August. The day commemorates the prophet Muhammad's first appearance on August 29, 570 AD according to Solar Calendar separately in parallel to 12 Rabi' al-awwal according to lunar calendar.
History
Sufi Sunni Sayed Zafor Sadek, the surviving Sufi Master of the Rahe Bhander Sufi Order, initiated this event on August 29, 2013. Sadek thought that society was forming a common view of "frowning and disrespecting" the prophets. In a world that, in Sadek's opinion, is becoming increasingly litigious, cynical and driven by superficial pursuits like fame and celebrity, he wanted to celebrate as a global event to boost global awareness of need to love and respect all Islamic prophets of every era.
Sadek and the followers of the Rahe Bhander Sufi Order made the decision to create Prophet's Day on July 7, 2013. In Sadek's native language the day is called Nobi Dibos (Bengali:নবী দিবস). This was later translated into Prophet's Day, Youm Al-Nabi (Template:Lang-ar, Nabi-Ka Din ( Template:Lang-ur) or Rouz-e Peyamber (Template:Lang-fa).
Inauguration
The first celebration took place at Chittagong in Bangladesh on August 29, 2013.
Activities
Prophet's Day Organizing Committee arranges different discussion ceremony and meetings at different places and dates. It goes through months long organizing and awareness developing program. News Papers publish sub-editorial beside regular news. An international response promoting this day as a Global Event is also reported.
