The Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF) is a trade union based in Cairo, Egypt.

History and profile

ETUF has been formed in 1957 .ETUF was, until 30 January 2011, the sole trade union federation in Egypt. It represents about 6 million workers from 24 general trade unions. It is affiliated to the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions, the Organization of African Trade Union Unity and The World Federation of Trade Unions WFTU .ETUF is seeking for defending workers and their rights . ETUF owns a resort located in the Mediterranean Sea which has about 360 apartments and a hotel ( Al-Ahlam Village ), it owns also a part from the Industrial Development and Workers Bank of Egypt as well as a Workers University and many local federations in all provinces of Egypt . It is still the most powerful Workers Federation in Egypt despite emergence of some other very weak independent federations after the revolution of 2011 , these federations have no effect or legal recognition until the moment.The head office of ETUF is located in 90 El-Galaa st. , Cairo .

ETUF also maintains a worker's social association, and education association.
