"Chase" is the twelfth episode of the season eight of House and the 167th overall. It aired on February 13, 2012. The format of this episode is similar to "5 to 9" and "Wilson" (both from season six).
Plot
The episode, as the title suggests, is centered on Dr. Robert Chase, who is coping—both physically and mentally—and recuperating from his injuries suffered from being stabbed in the previous episode, "Nobody's Fault".
The episode opens with Chase in bed with a woman who remains unaware of his injury. He has not been coping well, and has been avoiding House. This picture is abruptly interrupted by House text messaging Chase and appearing at his front door, where he talks to Chase about when Chase will be returning to work; Chase, however, tells House that he questions if he will return to work.
In the following scene, located in Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, Chase is undergoing physical therapy until Foreman tries to talk him into seeing a therapist and later, work (not necessarily for or under House). Foreman argues that, without work, and even with physical therapy and Chase's "night-time version of it", Chase will lose his mind before he regains his fine motor skills. Chase then takes up the twenty clinic hours he owed Foreman.
In the clinic, Chase encounters a postulant, who complains she has been experiencing left shoulder pain. Chase notes that she has enlarged cervical lymph nodes and hypothesises that she may have breast cancer or angina pectoris.
Reception
The Onion's AV Club gave this episode a C+ rating, while Lisa Palmer of TV Fanatic gave it a 4.0/5.0 rating.
