Adding this template does not ban a user. Please read Misplaced Pages:Banning policy for more information.

This template adds pages to Category:Banned Misplaced Pages users. It should not be used for normal blocks; rather, it is for accounts that have been banned after due consideration. The template adds the __NOINDEX__ magic word.

Syntax

Note: all parameters are optional, however the link parameter should be included so that other editors can read the discussion that led to the banning.

  • link – adds text at the bottom of the template. This is often used to include a permanent link (or wikilink to the AN or ANI archive) to the discussion which resulted in the site ban. link2 and link3 can also be used for multiple decisions (such as recording a declined ban appeal).
  • time – specifies the time for which the user was banned.
A value of 'indef', 'indefinite', or 'indefinitely' will display as "banned indefinitely"
Any other value places the page into Category:Misplaced Pages users banned for a limited period
  • by – specifies the source of the ban. This may be just text or a wikilink to indicate who initiated the ban. For example, "the community" is often used for a community ban. In the case of users banned by the Arbitration Committee, please use the text "the Arbitration Committee" (with or without a link). This will suppress the appearance of a banner on the user page, and instead add the user to Category:Misplaced Pages users banned by the Arbitration Committee.
