Gorillaz is a loose pop music collective or supergroup, comprising Blur frontman Damon Albarn, hip hop artist Dan the Automator, turntablist Kid Koala, cartoonist Jamie Hewlett, Cibo Matto vocalist Miho Hatori and their collaborators (who have included Talking Heads' Tina Weymouth, Terry Hall and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien). The band is centered around a fictional group of animated musicians, drawn by Hewlett. Gorillaz appeared in the UK music scene in late 2000 and boasted hits including 'Clint Eastwood' and '19-2000' with their mysterious live shows earning them a cult following. They also collaborated with D12 on the song "911" (available as a download only), as a tribute to the events of September 11.
