This guideline is a part of the English Misplaced Pages's Manual of Style.
It is a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though occasional exceptions may apply. Any substantive edit to this page should reflect consensus. When in doubt, discuss first on the talk page.

This is a proposed addition to the Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style and refers to the inclusion of lists of works, such as filmographies, discographies and bibliographies.

This is currently undergoing discussion on the talk page – all comments should go there.

Reasoning

In order to create a standardised method of displaying lists of works this proposal will look at how it would be best to present the information.

Items covered

Filmographies

These are included for actors, directors, producers and other people who have a list of contributions to film.

Examples:

  • Hugh Jackman (list layout; most recent at the bottom)
  • Keira Knightley (table layout; most recent at the bottom; includes year, role and notes)

Discographies

These are included for musical acts (solo or group), composers and other people who have a list of contributions to music.

Examples:

  • Keane (list layout; most recent at the bottom; separate singles and albums sections; includes date, label, chart position)
  • Oasis (band) (list layout; most recent at the bottom; separate singles, albums and compilations sections; cover images for albums; includes release date, chart position)
  • Nine Inch Nails (table layout; most recent at the bottom; combined singles and albums information using a "type" column; includes release date, chart position)

Bibliographies

These are included for authors, illustrators and other people who have a list of contributions to literature.

Examples:

  • Michael Connelly (list layout; most recent at the bottom; includes year)
  • Discworld by Terry Pratchett (table layout; most recent at the bottom; includes ISBN, notes along with year, motifs)

Other

For lists of works that cannot be included in one of the more specific types. Because of that it will be a much looser standard than those above.
