Hi, Deepu

Still having a little difficulty finding myself around this place.

I should probably be considered an 'expert' on Gnosticism inasmuch as I have been doing my research for approximately the past 30 years.

Still wondering whether the page on Jesus will be unprotected from edits so that a more neutral point of view on the 'resurrection' can be expressed.

This is my principal concern--not any assessment as to the Truth of the Gnostic view on the 'resurrection'; but merely that the conflict be described adequately and accurately.

Thanks,

$yD! & Serial Experiments Lain

Hi! I understand there's been a slight mixup as to the work I'm doing on Serial Experiments Lain... No worries with that, but I was wondering what led you to believe I was vandalising? I'm new around and eager for info as to the mechanism of this thing.--SidiLemine 11:40, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

For value addition

A working man's barnstar, awarded 16th September 2006 by Bhadani to Deepujoseph for his many contributions and value addition to wikipedia. --Bhadani 11:48, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello Deepu, please accept the barnstar which you surely deserve for your value addition here. Congratulations to you on your nice contributions. --Bhadani 11:48, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the thanks. I know that you are here as a part of the team to build "the sum total of human knowledge", and the barnstar is smaller than your contributions. I know that you are an asset to wikipedia. --Bhadani 16:12, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Konstable's RfA thanks

Hi Deepujoseph, thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which was closed as successful last Wednesday with a unanimous support of (47/0/0). I will do my best to help keep Misplaced Pages clean, green and vandal free. Once again, thank you! --Konstable 14:37, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Adminship

Hi deepu, I have seen that you are a very active user. You have more than 8000 edits with total all round and balanced edits such as images and categories. I wonder if you would be interested in adminship. I would be more than happy to nominate you for the post. You should be able to get it, since most of the recent admins have less than 5000 edits and they just don't have the range of your edits. If you are interested, leave me a message. --Ageo020 19:11, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Oh well, I was just preparing an email to send you this regard... I will be happy to co nominate if you are interested. We would need to work together a bit in creating the nom though -- Lost 19:14, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

List of Nair Tharavadus

Please be advised that List of Nair Tharavadus article is being considered for deletion by Misplaced Pages. You can find out more about it at the page. You may want to participate in the discussion. I would encourage your to read the material on what should be on the Misplaced Pages and rewrite the article in a way that it is not simply a genealogical listing, which is not considered encyclopedic. Williamborg (Bill) 01:09, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Hmm..I'm afraid there has been some mix-up. I'm the one who nominated that article for deletion.-- thunderboltz 06:18, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
I often make sure the various editors of AfD articles know it was up for deletion—in this case I don't see myself how it can be saved, but I'm always willing to let the editors take a shot at fixing it—sometimes they pull it out of the RfD by good changes—got one fixed earlier today. I normally just link to talk pages and drop the same message on each (usually like that above). In the rush to meet some guests tonight I hit talk for your name too (you added the prod so your name was in the list). Apologies for any inconvenience. Williamborg (Bill) 06:38, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Circle hand game

Please learn to give warnings only when they are appropriate. I was removing nonsense, not adding it. Warning someone for something they have not done is quite rude. 71.146.67.132 16:43, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the content you added is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. Profanity was unnecessary in explaining the rules of the game. Besides myself, you can see that your edits were reverted by others as well. See the welcome page for more about contributing to Misplaced Pages.-- thunderboltz 17:41, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Everything you've said couldn't be further from the truth. To begin, at no time did I insert profanity into any article. I could not have made it any more clear that I was removing original research; I even used an edit summary. Saying that my edits were "reverted by others as well" is a blatant misrepresentation of the facts as well; those other reverts were obviously made by mindless robots who didn't know any better. I would expect more from someone who is dishing out warnings. An apology would be nice, but I demand that you remove these false warnings from my talk page immediately. 71.146.67.132 19:07, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
My edits were done using an anti vandal tool. It flagged your edits as possible vandalism. This is the content that prompted me to revert:

According to some, the circle is the symbol of an asshole and if a player gets the other player to look at the asshole it means that the looker is gay

I appologise for assuming in bad faith that your revision was vandalism. I honestly felt the above to be original research. Moreover, it was my judgement that the content was inappropriate for an encyclopedia, as I'm sure you yourself are aware, since you've added the "citation needed" tag to it. I've reverted back to your edition sans the above sentence.

Anyhow, let's forget the issue. I'm sorry if I've offended you. The messages I left on your talk page are prewritten messages. I myself have felt them to be slightly offensive sometimes. I welcome you to create an account and continue editing to wikipedia. Appologies once again. Cheers!-- thunderboltz 10:08, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

I think we should ask him. Tintin (talk) 10:41, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Rest assured, there is nothing wrong with the user name. It is even a proper name among some communities in Kerala. The word is widely used to mean a young boy in Northern Kerala. That it has another indecent connotation is a matter that could be discounted.Kuntan 11:17, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Your mail

Dear Mr Deepu Joseph,

Thanks for the mail. Though I have heard about Misplaced Pages for quite a long time, it is just yesterday that I managed to spend some time on it. Did do a spot of editting. Fact is that I have stong views about what is definitely one of our historical land marks ( I mean the Civil Courts In Tellicherry ) and I could not resist adding the one peice of information that I thought would make the few words on the Court in Tellicherry more complete. I do not know whether I have tread on some one else's toes (albeit unknowingly) Well, if it is so - it was unintentional - and I certainly would be the first person to undo/ apologize for this lack of sensibility on my part. To be honest I am unaware of the do's and don'ts of the Internet and the Misplaced Pages in particular.

Best wishes

Msg

Hey Deepu, I left a message for you on Tintin's talk page. And a comment on an item on your user page; .."that the Cheraman Juma Masjid, the oldest mosque in India, was originally constructed in traditional Hindu architectural style?" This is not a curious fact and an exception. Rather, it is the general rule about ancient mosques. Other than a few builts by architects from Arabia, most of them were built on indigenous scheme which resembled temples a lot. The ***ty VHP listed some mosques in Kerala on their would be list on the assumption that all of them were once temples. Kuntan 16:17, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for pointing that out!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.215.228.58 (talkcontribs) .

Re: Linking

Ok thanks for the update that forum links are not allowed--Kris 21:23, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

By the way, what is a commercial link (page with google ads?) and where is wiki's policy on pages with google ads. If you mistakenly removed my links on pages with ads thinking they were commercial, please restore them. Else please point me to wiki's policy on such pages. Thanks.--Kris 21:38, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Change as you like

I am not very expert in computer technology. I can only type and take print of my patient's reports, letters, articles etc. Only I have simple working knowledege. You can edit the name etc. as you like, as you have suggested me. Its a good suggestion and I appreciate you. I think, the user name "debbe" will be fit for the changed name.

Help...

Hey Deepu,

Thanks for volunteering to help me. I have started writing my first article on Jaywant Dalvi. So far so good....but then I tried to search 'dalvi' in the search box, and my article did not come up there. Do I need to do anything special so that my article will be available with match percent?

Thanks for your help in advance!

A few articles for deletion

Hey friend, I have proposed a few articles for deletion as they are biased or irrelevant or nonsensical. Thambi, Unnithan and Achayan are the ones. Take care of them. I hope Tintin also will note this note here. Kuntan 05:23, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

yes, you are pretty correct that they will get hardly any oppositions but there is no harm to get people's perspectives. Because they are selected articles, so these articles should be selected through a selection process. There are not plenty of featured articles and lists related to this portal. So why we should avoid the process for them? Shyam 09:15, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Misplaced Pages there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Misplaced Pages:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

reply

Hi, you directed me to http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:External_links#Links_normally_to_be_avoided

But I fail to see what is meant by excessive advertising. The advertising on my website (www.rasikas.org) is not excessive by any means - there is just one row of google text ads which is contextual, and besides that there is nothing at all that could be considered excessive by any standard. Please let me know whether you still feel removal of my site was right, else please restore the links. Thanks --Kris 23:28, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi again,

Thanks for taking the time to respond, and that too with patience. You have my appreciation for that.

Please understand that I did not add a particular link in bulk. It was not the same page-link which I kept adding to many wiki pages. The links I added were separate (and directly relevant) pages (although located on the same website/domain).

I see that forum threads are generally forbidden from being linked. I believe the key word here is "generally". I understand that this is an encyclopedia, but as far as art forms are concerned, you cant expect scientific papers or research papers and stuff like that. I hope I understand the objective of external links on wikipedia correctly i.e "to direct users to external websites that might provide more information on the relevant topic which they cant expect to find on wikipedia itself". Particularly where the subject of music is concerned, I think this is a good exception to the rule that forums should not generally be linked to.

Reading the first 4 sections on the page http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:External_links thoroughly, I dont think the site I linked to had anything objectionable or non-objective and can be dealt with as a unique case, since wikipedia seems to allow a case-by-case approach, the overriding concern being objectivity and bonafide approach

You also said my links are commercial links, which I deny outright. I (or anyone else for that matter) dont have any commercial interest in this. Neither does the site use "objectionable" amounts of advertising.

While this --> http://www.hinduonnet.com/ can be called a website with objectionable amount of advertising, this --> http://www.rasikas.org can hardly be classified thus.

Hope you see reason in my replies. --Kris 06:28, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Portal tag

Hello Deepu, Sorry for the delayed response. The portal tag on the India banner currently refers to the Portal:India. If other portals need to be added, new attributes need to be added to the template. For example, {{WP India|kerala_portal=yes}}. Is that what you had in mind? - Ganeshk (talk) 21:01, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

No problem. It is easy to put them into different categories too. - Ganeshk (talk) 03:37, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism On My UserPage

Hi Deepu, just check out the vandalism on my userpage by a User:Vgowda. Please block him. ---Tipu Hero 05:27, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

I request the admin to take cognizance of this. Also if we compare this and this, I dont see how Tipu Hero doesnt deserve to be blocked too. I hope VGowda wasnt blocked just because Tipu happened to complain first. Also look at Tipu's contribs it seems quite clear that the id is most probably somebody's sock created merely to write what he did. Sarvagnya 17:38, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Haha, most people do. They are kinda surprised. I'm done in less than a month and a half. Can't wait! Anyway, on another note - I was wondering if you'd be able to help me out with my signature? However, when I do that now, Misplaced Pages changes the quotes and angle brackets into HTML escape entities. How do I get around that? --Vivin Paliath (വിവി൯ പാലിയത്) 15:53, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
