Miss Universe 2017 will be the 66th Miss Universe pageant. It will be held on an unconfirmed date and venue. Candidates from 94 countries and autonomous territories will compete for the title. Iris Mittenaere of France will crown her successor at the end of the event.

History

After the recently concluded Miss Universe 2016 pageant, media speculations have circulated about the next edition. Australian businessman Troy Barbagallo, who presides over the Miss Universe Australia organization, told the Herald Sun newspaper that he made an offer to IMG - co-owner of the contest - for Australia to host the 2017 edition, and has also assured that the company had a great interest in the offer. If the negotiation will be materialized, possible host cities will be Sydney and Melbourne. This would be the second time Australia will be hosting the pageant, the first one in 1979 which was held in Perth.
