Lyric is as follows:
Kimi ga yo ha / Chiyo ni yachiyo ni / Sazare ishi no iwaoto narite / Kokeno musu made
This lyric's style comes from Waka, Japan's original style of poem. This lyric shows patriotic feeling towards the Emperor by saying "may your country thrive for ever and ever".
There is a theory that this lyric was once a love poem.
