In bondage, the hogtie is a position in which a submissive's wrists and ankles are fastened together behind their back using physical restraints such as rope or cuffs.

Some people derive erotic pleasure from being hogtied or putting a person in a prone submissive position; commonly the hogtie is used as part of sexual bondage play, and in association with other bondage equipment.

Definition

A pretzel hogtie

Hogtie bondage requires the tying of all four limbs together behind a person's back. It typically involves connecting a person's wrists and ankles behind the back whilst lying face down using some form of physical restraints. It may instead refer to the binding of arms and legs behind a person in some BDSM contexts.

A variation of the hogtie involves tying bound wrists to frogtied legs, providing the dominant easier access to the submissive's crotch for sexual play. A pretzel hogtie is a stringent variant that has the wrists, elbows and ankles all tied together behind the back and cinched. The big toes are also tied together and are then connected to the back of the gag pulling the submissive into an extreme arch (while also making the gag become extremely tight. Famous bondage models Stacy Burke, Amber Michaels, Whitney Prescott and Simone Devon have all modeled this extreme variation of the pretzel hogtie and images of them in this tie are readily available on the internet.)

As with all bondage play, the free partner is regarded as being in the dominant or controlling position, while the tied partner is regarded as being sexually submissive, though in some play the tied partner may control the situation verbally.

Safety

The hogtie position places pressure on the abdomen of the tied person, which may created difficulty in breathing known as postural asphyxia. Care should be taken to ensure the person being bound can breathe easily throughout all stages of play. This is particularly important if gags, collars or rope (near the neck) is used to create a more stringent tie. This risk is in addition to the normal risks of physical restraint and BDSM play.
