The Rokel River is the largest river in the Republic of Sierra Leone in West Africa. It flows south-west from the Loma Mountains about 240 miles and, together with a smaller, parallel stream called Port Loko Creek, feeds into the giant estuary known as the Sierra Leone River or "Freetown harbor", the largest natural harbour in the African continent. Sierra Leone's capital city of Freetown lies at the entrance to the Sierra Leone River, about 25 miles downstream from the mouth of the Rokel and Port Loko Creek.

Sierra Leone's equivalent of the British knighthood is called "Order of the Rokel."
