The European version was introduced first as the FN model 1905. The Vest Pocket was designed by John Browning and was chambered in .25 ACP
History
This was the first pistol chambered in the Browning developed .25 ACP. Various sources call this pistol the "Baby Browning" and indeed it is often confused with that later pistol. The Vest Pocket featured both a grip safety and manual safety. The Baby Browning improved upon this design by eliminating the grip safety and extending the manual safety forward of the grip for easier operation with the thumb.
Copies
The Vest Pocket was copied and imitated numerous times over a dozen different european companies. One notable example is the CZ Duo pistol.
